Well the second vodafone Homegrown festival went down an absolute treat, as I'd hoped for.
It was good hanging out with some friends from out of town, the weather turned out ok and the booze wasn't badly priced.
There were babes everywhere, one of whom not so discretely inquired about a public showing of my genitalia, embarrassingly though having just retrieved myself from the cold wellington sea water, it was hardly in an appropriate state for critiquing by the general population.. Ahem..
Just to clarify I didn't fall off the wharf.. I got into my jocks and did it by choice because of much pressure from a friend who had done it at last years event..
Special Jimmy and some poofter c4 TV presenter were mc'ing the 'Moro 4th hottest' contest, out of the 10 woman on stage I thought number eight was the clear winner, as she was the only one who had sex appeal with out having to paint it on with Homer Simpson's make-up shotgun set to 'whore', to my dismay some dulux-decorated wafe-thin bint took out the top spot.. A fuckin travesty in my view..
'Head like a hole' and 'weta' were awesome on stage, with both bands coming together for this festival only, they did not disappoint.
'HLAH's singer was a show on his own, with a skin-ful of tequila he fell over into some speakers and later smashed the mike into the deck while the guitarist kamikaze'd the drum kit.
The crowd loved 'wet rubber' so much that following the song I couldn't even hear myself voicing appreciation, as I took the form of a mere drop in the roaring ocean of heavy metal lovers. Seriously it was like they had never split.. AWESOME.
And then with the various silly bugger antics played in town, accompanied by the usual suspects and the ever entertaining jo, it capped off what had been a day of honest, old fashioned, good fun. Coming home with all my limbs intact and some pocket change only added cherries to the cake..
So here is a thank you to New Zealand music, the event promoters and the other fans who made it happen.
CHUR !
I'll be back next year for sure !!
