Hiya. I have just started trying to do my own work on my bike. OMG what a friggin nightmare. Thought I would record my efforts on here a] as a record for myself, b] so other noobs can get some ideas and not repeat my mistakes or c] so you can have a good laugh at my efforts.
A fellow KBer very kindly spent a whole day working on my bike and giving me some useful tips. He fitted my new indicators which I have had in the drawer for 6 months. Panel beated my drive belt guard. [ I bent this up by trying to take off on the bike with out removing the D lock first. That happened not long after I got the bike. Also managed to fix my brake light which wasn't working. He tried to explain the electrical workings to me but at the moment it's over my head. Science was never my strong point.
After noticing an oil leak from my primary cover, he suggested we have a look in there and change the oil. Helped me drain that and refill it. I knew I had an oil leak and had been regularly checking my oil. Unfortunately, I was checking my engine oil, not the primary.
Discovered thick black oil with gloopy bits and only 600mls instead of the recommended 870 to 1000mls.
Also, noticed a hole in my drive belt. So I'm trying to source a replacement at the moment. Bugger! Big bucks. Have had two prices of 430 and 450, so currently trying to find something cheaper on the interweb. Apparently it could keep going for a few thousand ks but could also go anytime.
