Well I have just had a long talk with the girl from upstairs called Saskia. She was in NZ on exchange a couple of years back and just came by to drop some notes off to my flat mate. It was cool to talk to her again, and laso to have someone to share my pineapple lumps with! I met her for the first time on Saturday evening at my flatmate’s 21st. Turns out she lives just upstairs and I was at her place for tequila party a month or so ago. Small world!
And today I discovered the KB food thread.*Drool*
.Yes, fried potatoes are yum, I was reminded of them and then had mean cravings so guess what I had for dinner! Actually Dad showed me a couple of recipes when he was here too and I cooked for my flatmates yesterday to welcome our new American. Even found something similar to naan bread at a specialty asian store in the city. They have star anise too. And super hot chilli flakes, mm mmmmmm…. I will be making several return trips I think!
But apparently because the thread is on KB Stephen has been paying attention to it and trying out recipes such as the microwave chocolate cake in a mug. So I will be coming home to a domesticated male! Yes please, let’s have more inspiring threads like this one!
Went for a run this afternoon and it was nice to get out and about, especially seeing as uni is getting a bit tougher. Man, I am reading this book but completely NOT understanding it! No idea who is talking when, there are so many characters and they keep changing speaker without warning... I do not have time to look up all the words either, hoping to wing it a bit. We are only 5 people in that class but I am sure I will be able to think of something vaguely relevant to say! This weekend I have a Friday/ Saturday block course but then that paper is totally done, yay! Much as going to uni on Saturday sucks, it is nice to have more free time during the week. Long weekends from midday Thursday!
And on Monday I am going to PRAGUE! Yep. Boughta 35L pack for the trip. my flatmates are highly doubtful that I will be able to fit a week's worth of stuff into it. But little do they know, I am a motorcyclist, I have had plenty of practice at packing! Actually 35L is a hell of a lot bigger than I thought it would be. It makes me look a bit like a tortoise, but a tortoise that is pretending to be a tiger because it is orange and black. Maybe it would suit a man better…. But as Stephen says, it is good to have a BIG bag (70L) a small bag (10L) and a middle bag. 35L is right in the middle. And I am determined to succeed in fitting my week into it! If we could go 3 weeks round the south island with 2 panniers and a medium sized pack rack bag (containing tent, cooker and 2 sleeping bags!) then I should have no problems.
It also helps that I only have 4 pairs of shoes here. One of my flatmates went to the Cannes film festival this weekend and it was crazy the amount of luggage she took! 15 pairs of shoes, 4 coats, a bag of makeup, enough to need a car to take it to the train station. Then again, in Cannes you never know who you might bump into and it always pays to look your best. We are planning to visit the biggest night club in Europe when in Prague, all 5 stories of it. But perhaps it pays to look not quite your best there, either that or to wear a ring, on account of the creepy middle aged European men who go there to boogey and fish for a quick shag. Will keep you updated on that one…
And when I get back from Prague I will be halfway through the semester and right now I am already half way through my stay in Freiburg. Craaaazy! It’s lots of fun though. Jam-packed, but that’s the way to make the most out of things.
Bis nächstes Mal,
Hanne
