Had a bit of a crack at the back end today...

Decided to pull off the rear caliper and torque arm to see what I could do about it. The rear caliper was really oxidised and the torque arm very rusty. Damn I should have taken some photos before I started.

Anyway, the pistons came out of the calipers easily enough with the air compressor - after the RF900 with 4 piston calipers it's a joy to work on a caliper with 2 pistons.

One of the pistons was a bit pitted but the other one was perfect. To be honest, I reckon if I polish up the pitted one it's not going to make a huge difference to the braking performance but I'll have a look and see the cost of replacement pistons as if I get a pair I may need one for a replacement on one of the front calipers, which have the same size piston (I hope).

Brake pads are right at the wear limit - put a new set on the shopping list.

Continuing with the air compressor I used the dremel utility with a sanding end to clean up the worst bits of oxidisation on the caliper. It looks pretty good now - ready for soda blasting to get it absolutely pristine and then I'm thinking I may just polish it and put a couple of coats of clear on to give it an awesome polished ally look.

I've cleaned up the torsion bar but it's still a bit spotted - I'm not sure exactly how clean it has to be for powder coating so I'll discuss that with the powder coat fellers.

The fairing bracket is nearly ready for powder coating but I think I'll just paint this bit as it has the plastic coated stays on it - these will get ruined if I powder coat it.
