    Gilera Nordwest

    558cc single
Needs quite a bit of TLC.
    Reg on hold since 2006.

I can put up some current pics if anyone bothers to ask.

Needs to be restored and ridden and that's not happening where it is.

All I want for it is a new pair of Shinko 705 tyres for the TransAlp.
Oh, and I need to be able to drop by occasionally and rub myself all over it

Nope, it's in the storage unit.

It's the motor from a Nordwest

Gilera did it in everything from 350 to 750cc, from road bikes (Saturno) to motards (Nordwest), dirt bikes (RC600) and 750cc desert racers.
Bimota did a GB1 which was built to go head to head with the Ducati SuperMono and had a fuel injected desert motor in it.

I turned a Nordwest into a singles roadracer. The wheels look light but are actually cast from a previously unknown alloy with the specific gravity of Iron...
The biggest problem with the 558 engine is actually the twin carbs. FWIW the cam follower buckets and shims are identical to old Suzuki GS...
The one I built has disappeared into a collection in ChCh - from where I doubt it will ever reappear.

The carbs are the same atrocities as on the TT600R Yammy.
