Honda CB400 1992 LAMS for sale

Owned by me from NZ new.

Very reliable Honda CB400 super Four.

    - LAMS learner approved motorcycle
    - at 52 hp and 36Nm of torque, this is one of the most powerful LAMS bikes available
    - Inline four cylinder with aftermarket exhaust sounds really nice
    - sport naked style bike
    - optional wind deflector included for more comfortable winter riding
    - Will include all my receipts for work done by my mechanic as well as the correct oil filter wrench and a new oil filter still in its box
    - will come with a fresh WOF
    - rego to May 2022
    - 55,000kmish on the clock

It runs mint mechanically, but has cosmetic flaws as you would expect with use.

Selling because I don't use it enough and want to buy a ute for work.

Viewing in Te Atatu Peninsula by arrangement

Test rides only with full cash in hand

Looks like it's upside down full time. Hard to stay shiny side up

With the aftermarket exhaust fitted ... it no longer qualifies officially to be in the LAM's class. Unless you can prove it does not increase the hp of the bike or no stock exhausts are now available.

The CB650RAL is also in the LAM's class ... and rated at 92 hp (from memory) ... a little more than the 400's 42 hp.

It looks like he's only got a slip-on, which is in-fact allowed under the LAMS regulations without having to prove any weight/hp figures.
I think this was changed sometime over the past few years as a common-sense response to the large number of LAMS motorcycles which have a slip-on that does not make it remotely faster than the factory setup.

The modifications below are intended to allow the user to customise/personalise their motorcycle without increasing the power to weight ratio. Some modifications will have a minor effect on power and others a minor effect on weight. However, these are not considered to be significant.

    Allowed modifications

    Slip on muffler/exhaust
    Fairings/plastics
    Wheels and tyres
    Lights
Any other minor modification that would not affect power to weight ratio. e.g. handlebars or seats.
But if it's a complete aftermarket exhaust system, I think he can get away with it as long as it's functionally very similar to the OEM system.

Fitment of a turbocharger or supercharger
    Nitrous oxide (NOS) injection
Any other modification intended to increase engine power or significantly reduce motorcycle weight.
