High risk occupations

Ever thought some jobs just aren't worth the risk.

I always thought that NZ electricity cable workers were gutsy but these guys beat them all.

I used to do a little pylon work.
Thats a pretty safe job to be honest, maybe not by desk geek standards but its safer than working on a farm or being a cop for example. Most dangerous part is the Heli, the height and the voltage isnt an issue. (not much chance of falling or getting cooked unless your REALLY work at screwing up, and I would say they only work in perfect conditions using a very systematic mount up dismount system.

Looks awesome though, once your heads in working those kind of heights, its a walk or crawl in the park. The thing about that job is the crawling would get old real quick.

Not the sort of job you turn up to with a hang over most dangerous part is moving from helicopter to the line and I assume back again.

i saw a guy hanging from at least a 200 foot rope under a helicopter, repairing the lines along the desert road about 3 weeks ago, was hardcase alright.

Awesome vid! A few year ago I was lucky enough to fly (fixed wing) an inspector from Palmy to Hastings and back at 200 ft checking buried gaslines. That was a great job and you'd be amazed at what's buried in the back paddocks!

I think working around FAT JIM is fairly High Risk - especially if he's had curry for lunch!!!!
