The price of work boots....

Is friggin amazing.....
I went today, to price a new pair of boots... mine are 3 years old and I wear them everday... I only own them and a pair of dress shoes (bike boots dont count)

I have a pair of Blundstones that KW in oz supplied in 2002... $94 dollars if I had of paid.... but the soles are wearing thin which hurts my feet at work. (8+ hrs on concrete)

so... I go to a safety shop and find the same boots are $160!!!!

I go to the blundstone website... thru a link... and find something along the lines of "from catwalks in paris to mines in blah blah blah"

WTF???? Why should my boots nearly cost twice as much coz some anorexic hooker in paris wears them?????

Really pissed off now!!!!!!

anyone know of any decent footwear I can wear to work??? (steel-capped)

Grit ya' teeth a pay the bucks mate.
I think they worked out their boots really are that good after all.
I need a new pair as well but I'm going to OZ next month so will pick em' up while I'm over there.

Thats a cheap pair

Mine cost $330 but work forked out for them as with few years. Can get new boots every 6 months if needed and issued every year. Tried many types but found the old red bull slip ons are the best for me.
I see that the red shed has steel caps at a resonable price.

Thats what shits me JR, I was over there 4 weeks ago but didnt need them for work..

(still legally dont, but I love owning toes)

Couldnt wear red shed boots, HR... need something with a decent sole to stand on concrete all day... KW used to replace all the time too....

It looks like paying the bucks is the thing... but it also means the only place I can ride for the next 2 months is to work.....

well now to shatter it all...lol

Up here in auckland there is a company.... they was in Cartwright Place Kelston, Auckland... now moved to new premises... new pull on work boots with steel caps $60 some up to $80 (that was not so long ago) and all that was wrong with them is they are called shop seconds cos they will have a mark or scratch on them... shit after a day they would be marked anyways....

So is there a place down that way that does the same thing?
Tis worth checking it out....

If your after slip ons and give me your size I should be able to get you a pair for SFA. Oh they only come in black

My last work boots were over 400, but on the bright side they are cumbersome and overweight.

Careful on the warehouse steel caps, many dont pass safety standard, you could go for a skate with osh if your caught in them.

Turu do safety gear,they have a whole range mail order,but my safety shop does the same cateloge.I'm due for a new pair soon too,got Bludstones now,they were $95 3 years ago,now you've scared me....

Fortunately my employer buys mine for me . I was using Blundstones but now using Olivers slip ons. Sooo comfortable. Got a spare pair if you want a test drive.

yep work boots are not cheap.
i got a pair of ex forestry boots (rest their souls - lovely boots), about 10 years ago with a cool metal toe gripper.
They were the best boots i ever had....and they cost me a whole.....$30 - brand new.
Then the boots bassically went up $50 since then. The last pair i had were about $200.
Why dont the prisoners makes boots in their spare time - theyre shoes were ok.

Olivers are made in Ballarat... where my mum and sister live... in fact... 1k from my sisters...

Mate, i'm too lazy to read all of the details of this thread. However I purchase the work boots for my company. Currently we get John Bull "Torro's". They are a slip on boot with little stiching to be damaged by welding and grinding sparks. Quite comfortable aswell. If you cant find anything you want for $100.00 drop me a line and i'll get ya some of the above boots if ya like.
