Such a great afternoon for a ride seemed a pity to spend it picking apples. Quite a bit of wandering around to find the tag not exactly that close to the sign. Never managed to get down to the river though. Next one far too easy just a little bit of gravel but after all the rain not much loose stuff on top.

Ah well some of us don't read all posts and if they do they don't always remember. Having never done anything more than stop for gas I enjoyed a wee bit of an explore. Your're right about Cust and would have to be on the "Grand Prix" circuit.
Been a googling... interesting 1936 15 entrants and 6000 there to watch, ran till 63, 83 which I kinda remember going to and aprently 93 and theres a muttering of 2013?
wont get a chance my self this time round, race meet with the cams club sat and, sprog sitting Sunday

Got out and about this arvo, snapped the tag... that one took a while uh. Pretty much opposite the original monument on the other side of the Cust GP course.
Took a trek a bit further for the next tag. The image details should give clue them selves.
Glad I didn't bother going out for a ride today, Q would have beaten me to posting anyway.
Pretty sure I know where the new tag is, I think I rode past it not that long ago, might have to take the long way on the drz and pick it up....
Riding cheap crappy old bikes badly since 1987

Its been done, sometime in the mid 90's, trials bikes from Kowhai Bush thru to Cust following the old coach road using the tunnels and bridges where necessary. Bikes had to be lifted over fences in places and one creek crossing was 4 feet deep. And it was snowing. One of the riders was in the position to carry a track control radio and the train controller on duty knew they were in there beforehand. Probably can't be done now.......
To anyone that ever told you you’re no good… They’re no better.
A 4WD track shadows the line most of the way so the main problem is at Staircase, where the viaduct leads straight into a tunnel. I'd guess the creek was Broken River.
