There we are... another 9.6km from where I last turned around, mind you that's almost an extra hour round trip on the cycle.
It was out at West Melton, next to the community center..
Had some fog issues with the first camera settings I tryed but got it with the next attempt.

Spot on TA. No idea how many times I've driven past it without a clue it was there

Yea, I probably would have had trouble in the fog if I hadn't spotted it online after PeterJ mentioned I needed to go further. It doesn't really grab your attention.

    Next Tag...

First photo is from tonight, other 3 are obviously daylight files.
I swear this used to be a proper ford with the water on top of the road not under it.
You can still picnic here though.

I know, I know What a HUGE clue that was. Unfortunately the bike is off the road until 26/9 and I'm not push biking that far, so good luck to the rest of you

Coes Ford a few km,s from Ellismere. PeterJ must be having a sleep in this morning Plenty of water on top of the road this morning. not a very pleasent ride at all to be honest. The twonkers that chose to drive without their lights on didnt help either. Visibility was 50-70 meters I'd say. At one point I didnt know there was a car infront til it indicated to turn off!

Bugga you bet me to it. I knew that off the bat. Used to play down there as a kid, when it really was a ford.

Good one, it's a misserable day out there. Not paticularly windy or raining heavy but riding in that grey mist is a bit yuk.
Been to the odd family do there too, don't remember all the fences then either.

Yep missed that one, been at the kids rugby this morning, I drive/ride over that ford twice a day. What was the horse plaque in aid of?. I had a vague idea that I had seen it before and it took a lot guess work and time in google earth to find it, must have driven past it thousands of times.

Used to play down there as a kid, when it really was a ford.

At least once or twice a year the water levels get high enough and it becomes a ford again.

I distinctly remember going through bridge-less on a vintage car club rally as a kid, mid-late eighties I'm thinking. I guess we could have been a few meters downstream in my hazy childhood memory, but I'm sure I remember it actually being a concrete road laid across the river bed there.

It wasn't very clear to me but I think the horse monument at West Melton was just to celebrate the areas association with horse racing... or something generically to do with the horse industry in the area.
Even knowing where and what it is doesn't produce any online info and the plarques were a bit vague.
When ever I looked for the mentioned year 2000 project I just got info on the y2k bug.

The plaque was to acknowledge the importance of horses in the area. first they worked the land, now the whole area is full of racing stables.
