Awesome Liv . That plaque represents the "memorial" in Memorial Ave. I've lived here since the late 80's and only just clicked to that. If we lived in France, it would be a huge stone arch over the whole road!...and of course, we would be speaking french...

For the authority that made the decision, to place a plaque on the edge of a footpath, on a very busy intersection, traffic lights included. On the MAIN route to the "towns" only international airport ... must have been lacking in respect to those it was representing.

Any awareness of its location AND purpose. However distasteful it may appear ... must have a positive side.

bugger me... Iv been riding through thet intersection since the early 80's, and I have never ever noticed that memorial nor its signlficance to memorial ave. shocking

I beg to differ... as it used to be. WHERE it used to be. In the MIDDLE of that road. It has been moved even.... to widen the intersection.

As an ex serviceman, it has been our fear. To die in some asshole of someone's empire, to be forgotten ... or never known by many, or any, that they existed. They gave for your freedoms... enjoy those freedoms.

In time ... over time, others will give too. Do not forget them.
