Norman is on the right track.

The pole is octagonal, it has a lamp on top of it and each side of the lamp has a blue shield on it.

Just like this one... on Normans Rd off Papanui Rd
A very nice place it was too, all the blossoms and stream etc.
Glad I done it while there was no one about, lots of people would spoil the setting.

Off looking for a new tag now.

Yes there is a few patches of gravel in the usual places but most the road is fine.... and it's so nice up there.

Umm I would say the deal was concluded at about 1815 on Saturday 05/09/09 so since then
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.

    That's different.

My last one wasn't supposed to be hard, it was supposed to be enjoyable to ride to.
    I think it was.

Well I took an educated guess and now I see the area you parked in.
Google Satellite imagery is great. Not sure about access though.

Funny how things stick in your mind from years ago that you never even took notice of at the time, I had a feeling and google confirms it. No handlebars still, so it'll have to wait.

Two person job really this one I think, one to stand guard and one to commune amongst the dead trees for the photomagraf.

I'd agree, I'm not comfortable going there, even less so going solo.
