FFS - the whole swine flu thing is a media beat-up. More people die each year from 'ordinary' colds and flue than are likely to die in total from the swine flu. I wouldn't be surprised either if the drug companies are jumping on the bandwagon - it could be a good wee income earner for them. I was talking on the weekend to a guy whose friend is an executive of the major pharmaceutical companies, and he said this is what they commonly do, sometimes even fabricating 'pandemics'.
On the news in Oz, the "swine flu cruise ship" returned home, and the headlines were "Disaster Cruise" and so on, yet the passengers they talked to said "we had a wonderful time" , and the most negative comment was "it was a little disappointing not being able to go ashore at some ports". The media LOVE this sort of thing, and want us to be afraid so we'll look to them for information on what to do.
Pfffft.....

My impression is that if we don't do anything, and let a lot of people get the current seemingly mild strain then population will build some immunity to it naturally.
I do note that those in Mexico have been dieing of this, but no one in this part of the world seems to have had that happen. I'm guessing people in this part of the world already had some kind of immunity to a sufficient degree that the swine flu has not been able to cause a death.
We need to be very carefull not to create drugs that kill "things" that eventually leave the human population in greater danger at a later point in time.
I don't mind the world population experiencing some mild sickness if it could save millions of lives much further down the track.

2007 - Chinese year of the Chicken ......... Bird Flu Pandemic devastated most parts of Asia.
2008 - Chinese year of the Horse ............ Equine Influenza decimated Australian racing.
2009 - Chinese year of the Pig ................. Swine Flu Pandemic terrifying people around the globe.
Has any one else noticed this?
