Currently mine is a AMD 64 x2, 4gb of ram, and 4x 1tb and 2x 320gb hdd. Goddamn the Nvidia Mediashield is a piece of shit.

New system (Q9550, 8gb of DDR2-1066 et al) has been stolen for other duties in the office at the moment... Can't wait. Hope the 850W PSU is still ok with 8+ hdd... I have a 1.5tb lying around

edit: No wonder its hot... I'd look at replacing the CPU cooler...
Pshh, you'll never be any good if you don't realise that if you can get away without upgrading something on the PC< then you can upgrade something on the motorbike instead.

The hotwired 320W is for twelve harddrives (which is technically too much while they're spinning up, but okay once it's going), and the 420W PSU for the main hardware, eleven fans and the left over harddrives.

Other'n that, I can't really recall what hardware in is there. 2.4GHz Core2Duo, 8800 gfx card, 4GB of DDR2 and that's about it. CBF'd changing the heatsinks etc for me good Zalman ones simply because I don't do much gaming at the moment, and it runs all the games I play at max happily already. Eight 250GB drives, a couple of TB drive, a 640 and a few 320s... I hate deleting shit (particularly my "linux .isos"). On the whole though it's been pretty much untouched for nearly two years now I think.

Only amateurs spend more money on their computers than they absolutely need to.

The new gear (motherboards etc) are actually less tolerant of heat, so more care needs to be taken when over-clocking... Rather amusingly, the Q9550 is brilliant at overclocking, but heat needs to be kept under control.

Not a fan of having too many fans, too much noise etc.

Unless you're playing the latest generation games on rather unsuitable equipment, overclocking isn't worth the hassle. Just upgrade instead.

(That said, I would probably get a decent performance boost simply by cleaning the dust and moths out of the heatsink for the first time in around 12 months.)

Fans are all good, just buy a fan controller, flick everything to 5V and BAM, silence.

    Has it broken again?

My brother did have 3 out of 4 fail on him, each within 6 months. He got the fourth and sold it without using it...

I fully expect mine to die. If it's within the three years I will send it to get fixed.
If it's outside the three years I will probably just get another one.

I cant stand consoles. I'm a pc gamer through and through.

I would be more in clined to play on consoles if mouse and keyboards actualy worked properly with them...

FPS's are way cooler on pc. plus console graphics will never be as good as pc graphics are.

I alternate between my 42" LCD and my Projector plus the home theater system.

Not to sound too cocky but COD4 is pretty damn easy on PC. I jumped on the Clanwars TDM server tonight for the first time in months and topped the list. M16 with the red dot for the win!

At least playing on the 360 with a controller is somewhat of a challenge.

Hi, my name is Chris, and I hate consoles because they lack expandability
I also love my little wee 9600GT gets along quite nicely at 1920x1200, 4xAA. But that's about it. Needs more SATA ports and a pair of 4770's and she'll be right.
Brothers 360 is also fucking noisy, and been replaced under RROD law twice, even.

    Where's my bed and pillow....

It's all balanced, as everyone else has a mouse as well...
I don't buy into this whole "it's more of a challenge" thing, an analogue stick is designed for the likes of car racing and action games. I have an Xbox 360 controller hooked up to my pc for this very purpose.
