Who has redone or replaced their rear suspension on their Hornet 900? What did you replace it with?
Has anyone simply re-sprung the rear spring? What does this involve - any before and after specs?
Cheers!

We have sold a lot of Ohlins shocks for these and the improvement is HUGE. Respringing the rear only achieves a very minimal result ( unless your weight stats are at an ''extremity'' ) as the internal hydraulics are very crude and theres lot of internal friction.
There is no cheap ''great bang for buck'' fix for these, sorry.
Agreed. Just bought another Ohlins for my 2nd CB900 from Robert.
Farab, it does make massive difference to the bike when it is installed and setup correctly. Funny enough the factory front end works well for me thou. How heavy do you weight? You are welcome to have a look / sit to see.
Robert, that order from Botany Honda for CB900 Ohlins is from me.![]()

I weigh about 90kg's. I want to improve it not only for myself, but also for my missus when 2 up.
Robert put an Ohlins in my Hornet when it was pretty much brand new mainly to lower it for my short arse, which it did fantastically, but also made a HUGE improvement to its handling and comfort. Highly recommend!!
Ohlins shock is absolutely the best money I spent on mine (when I owned it). Closely followed by getting racetech cartridges and appropriate weight fork springs.
Sure there is some sticker shock (you think "Why am I spending 25% of the value of the bike on new suspenders?") but bear in mind that there is a huge transformation in control, and comfort. And tunability. Plus those items have a residual value at the end as well. I onsold my shock and forks when I sold the bike and got just under half the money back.
I can totally recommend Robert, and CKT, as suppliers as well. Excellent pre and importantly post sale service as well.
Do it, you will not regret it.

Heh got me thinking here.
We are all pretty much happy spending bucks on things you can see and hear - pipes spring (he he) to mind. But hesitate at suspenders. Guilty as charged.
I bought an Ohlins for my Hornet, made a big difference.
Bought the used shock (NZ new) on Trademe which eased the financial pain.
