5 bucks says there will never be another mention in the media about this incident, or if there is, one of the hunters will be charged with a technical issue, with say a gun license offense or something like that.

If the hunters were leaving the shooting area, they should have had their weapons unloaded anyway, which means that chances are the very least they would have had to do before being able to shoot the guys was to stick the mag back in the gun and release the bolt (on a semi-auto), at worst get out a box of ammo, load the mag, stick that in the gun, work the bolt.

Also, if they were hunting with bolt action rifles then even if they were loaded the outcome would probably have been shoot one, others run away or shoot one, others stab you to death. Not my kinda odds.

Shooting someone in the kneecaps with a rifle at short range would have been more or less impossible, and also a very dangerous thing to try.

From the bushes it would have been hilarious though... a .308 to the knee would probably relieve the guy of his leg though.

Also a good point about what would happen to you if you got jail time for it, in terms of other MM members going after you...

Yeah. I'm getting pretty pissed off with people going on about how MSSA weapons should be banned completely, semi-autos should be banned completely blah blah blah. I'd be much more worried about someone robbing my house and pulling a knife on me, or pulling a knife on me in town, or cutting me off in traffic and attacking me with a claw-hammer. All things that have happened relatively recently and can very easily have serious consequences. In fact I think I'd probably take being shot over being seriously stabbed any day of the week too...

We should really ban criminals from carrying knives.

Or "ban" gangs. By ban I mean have the SAS execute them.

The proposed gun licencing laws would have stopped them stealing any weapons.

Will the proposed laws prohibit the theft of guns?
