Uhh, I do suppose you searched trademe for "BA9S" ?
edit: the following was nicked of some trademe auction ;
1. Is the base of the bulb 15mm in diameter? If YES, go to 2. If NO, go to 5.
2. Does your bulb have TWO contacts on the bottom? If YES, go to 4. If NO, Go to 3.
3. Does your bulb have ONE contact on the bottom? If YES, it is a 1156 bulb.
4. Are the pins on the side of the base at the same height? If YES, it is a 1142 bulb. If NO, it is a 1157 bulb.
5. Is the base of the bulb about 9mm in diameter? If YES, it is a BA9S bulb. If NO, go to 6.
6. Is the base of the bulb 22mm in diameter? If YES, it is a standard mains B22 bulb.

WTB: Hyosung bikes or going or not.
I found heaps of BA9S bulbs (took me a while to figure out the designation) but none that were the 23W ones I currently had... I think that might actually be the same auctions that pointed me in the right direction...
There's a few types of halogen indicator bulbs as you describe available through bike shops.
I found out the Engo, Oxford and is it Arrow indicators? are not all interchangable as I first thought when one failed.
The base pins have minimal changes in the angle of the pins.
You can get them easily anyhow, just inspect the base.
The length of the quartz globe is not always the same either.
These give much more light output over LED's and you don't even have to change the relay speed.
