Ooo Ooo Ooo...I just might hafta go get that one tomorrow. I'm out of work again but have holiday pay coming this week so one more decent ride might be a good idea before I run out of money completely...again.
Anyone interested? Wouldn't mind a companion but will go anyway, all being well.

I see we are skirting the border of the region! I wonder if next one will be at the foot of Mount Tongariro, or in Awakino (totally missed that opportunity, last time I was done that way...)

OK here we are then.
OLD TAG: Orakei Korako visitors' centre on Lake Ohakuri. This is a lovely place. Best tag for a while - nice coffee shop and wonderful scenery. Just a little further away than I had anticipated.
NEW TAG: Another damn dam. But a great ride to get it whichever way you choose to go. Incidentally, if this has been used before, I have an alternative.

Damn, wrong dam.
Edit - found it (Google maps), 20 km south of where I turned back to Hamilton. Whoops.

I like to learn something every day. Now that's over time for
But in all seriousness I have not really studies dams of NZ, and until I started riding a year ago I seldom strayed from SH1. It's fun, and educational. I thought the view looked wrong, but assumed it was from the other side (I had only been to the dam I went to once, and only from one way).
