Anyone else had a great weekend?

So. Went for a pootle on Saturday morning. Got back just in time to receive a text from a girl who's gn250 won't start. Get to her place and had it running in 15 minutes (fouled spark plug + drained battery). That night we go to a 1920's themed birthday party, fast forward few hours later and I'm walking down Ponsonby Rd with her on my back, when who do we bump into? Psycho ex from yesteryear who gave me grief beyond belief whilst dating.

    Grief repaid? I hope so.

Woke up on Sunday with only vague ideas as to what part of Auckland I was in, until I spotted the GN outside.

Now I just have to find A) my wallet, and B) my cell phone, and I don't think the weekend could have gone any better.

Anyone else have a good weekend? Stories required.

Unfortunately I was freezing my tits off in wellington, but at least they have bike shops and cinemas so I got to enjoy Terminator 4 at the Embassy and find a new toy. Although I called the dealer this morning and some fucker has already put a holding deposit on it. I can only pray he can't find the rest of the money!

FYI, the 883 Sportster in the window of Motorad is alarmed. Even if the salesman says go sit on it, dont until he's already retreived the keys from the back of the shop. DAMHIK.

I had a good weekend. My sister called on Friday to say she had been admitted to Waikato Hospital due to complications resulting from her pregnancy. (That is the not-good part.)

The good news is she normally lives north of Kaitaia (Houhora) and just happened to be visiting Mum in Hamilton when it all happened, so I hopped on the Volty and rode straight down there (the journey would have taken at least twice as long if she had been in Kaitaia hospital).

So then I took over caring for her 9 month old baby while she was having tests & being medicated. That was good because
    a) I felt useful and was glad I could help and
    b) I got to spend quality time with my nephew.

It was also a good excuuse for a big (for a Volty) ride on a sunny day.

On Saturday I rode home and had a nice hot shower and a nap, and when I woke up I discovered my partner had lubed & adjusted Volty's chain and checked her oil, just in case I need to rush off again. What a sweetie!

On Sunday it was my bro-in-law's birthday party. He & my partner went off for a ride in the morning while I helped set up surprises in the house - like a big poster of Valentino Rossi winning the MotoGP... with a photo of bro-in-law's helmet glued on over Rossi's.

Then we spent the evening watching a slideshow of all B-I-L's motorcycle adventures over the past 35 years, including pics of all his bikes and stories from his riding buddies about their (mis)adventures. Inevitably there were photos of my partner as a skinny teenager with an appalling haircut and disasterous bell-bottom jeans. There's nothing more fun than laughing at someone else's fashion disasters!

So yes, I had a good weekend. Thanks for asking.

    Congrats!

But you can't just leave it at that - we need the STORY!

    What did you say?
    What did she say?
    Where were you?
Did you get down on one knee?
Did you give her a ring? (If so, we will also need pics...)

    So many questions!

    Thank you.

I said "Will you marry me?"
    She said "yes"
I was right next to her.
    Yes I did.
Why ring someone who's right next to you?

I could say "typical girlie questions" but I'm too polite. (I'm a real catch ya know! )

We were up in the hills, cloudless night with a practically full moon, bottle of French bubbly, venison on the barbie, outdoor bubble bath etc. We were facing east, so we saw the moon come up over the horizon, twaz brilliant.

We're looking at rings together, no point in getting something you have to take back and change eh?

Did quite a bit of riding which was good, although I wish I had more layers on!

Late Sunday night drove past a cop parked on the side of the road.
I don't usually speed, but sometimes get excited and go a few 10's of km/h over the limit...

The cop flashed his blue and reds on, I slowed down to 50 immediately, Cop didn't chase me down

I actually have nothing but good things to say about the Police. This is about the fifth/sixth time I've been warned by them without receiving a ticket. I guess the secret is to slow down immediately, if they pull you over say sorry right away etc.
