    Floating the idea: Camping rally

i'm looking for some feedback about who might be interested in a biker camping event in the coromandel in warmer weather. so many rallies are in the cold seasons. A friend of mine owns a small motor camp, which could hold up to 150 tents, has an area for a band and has great roads to and from, from every direction. Its also walking distanse from a ferry that goes to Whitianga, where there is eating and drinking options. I'm thinking of the same time as the burt munroe rally-November, (which suits those who want a ride and camp but cant do a week long adventure) or the same weekend as the paoroa street race-Febuary(bags and tents etc could be stored and collected after the racing). whats the thoughts?

I doubt many campgrounds will allow a pack of arsehole bikers to get a band in and have a piss up. Something about fucking their campground up for the summer season...

Camping is nature's way of making motels look really attractive.

Paeroa weekend could be interesting, how far is this motorcamp from Paeroa? Not so sure about collecting gear after the races, by 5pm I am ready to head home with no big detour along the way to collect gear. Does this place have half decent cabins? I dont do tents.

    EDIT: November is not warm!

the idea of this camp out, was summer based, and dare i imply it ...a wee bit more up market. More wine and cheese than shit faced and burnouts.
To make it work we ned to hire all fifty sites, which holds 150 tents, and yes there is 15 cabins. Not sure about burning drums...it not going to be cold. The band would be more likely to be quality cover band. If we rip, shit and bust it, we will never get another shot. this could be an angle of an warm, coromandel weekend away in a nice "totally motorbiked" camping ground.
As much as i like AC/C and bourbon, then puking in my mates sleeping bag and pissing down his mufflers...this is not the event for these antics. Several motorcycle importers would be present with new bikes and some product giveaways. It would need to be event that your mum may not want to go to but would allow to continue.

Well you might persuade some camping ground owner to put his whole summer season at risk, but I doubt it. It will only take one asshole to spoil the whole thing, and you KNOW that is just a matter of time.

There are a few council campgrounds and other places, where you can mostly do as you choose.
