    Scorpio issue

My Scorpio is making an awful noise when Im riding over 70ks. It sounds like when a fanbelt is about to go in a car. It disappears when I slow down to about 50ks. Any ideas as to what this might be? My bike is an 08 model with about 7500ks done. I thought it might have been the chain but I put chain lube on it this morning and it still happened.

    Any advice welcome.

Stickie...take it to a bike mechanic. Or better still, get someone capable to come to where the bike is. From your description it is road speed related, not engine revs, so that narrows it down a bit.
It may be as simple as adjusting the chain, or as bad as a wheel bearing.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

come on over and have a coffee with Jorja. Ill look it over for ya.
On your way though do one thing for me get to 70 and pull the clutch in and drop her down to neutral. Tell me if the noise changes pitch, goes away or stays the same

Do you mind if I come after work might be able to leave early though? When I pull the clutch in the noise doesn't change until I'm actually slowing down in speed i.e. in 1st or 2nd gear. I haven't tried changing to neutral though.

I have only noticed the noise when riding on the motorway. It doesn't occur while riding around in 50k areas.

Just waiting to hear back. Stupid thing is that when I left work yesterday the noise didn't happen so its not consistent.

Just rang them. Apparently they took it for a 15min ride. It only happened once for them and because it's not consistent they are finding it a little hard to pinpoint what is happening. They have offered to put it on their dyno machine and run it for longer so will see what the outcome is after that.

So that may mean not having a bike for the weekend. Looks like Dan may have to be my slave and do the running around for me.

Hmmm mine's making a noise sometimes when it hits about 50, and doesn't stop again until the speed is below 40 again. It's sort of a high pitched-ish pulsating whistle (is the best I can describe it). For ages I thought it was my ears ringing strangely until Neil mentioned it after taking her for a ride. I'll be interested to hear what the problems is on your bike.
