Ummm i am going away this weekend but seeing as the guys i am going away with have part time jobs and will be working monday i happen to have that day free. And if it's sunny well i can't think of anything better than i nice long blat. Anyone free/keen and can suggest a route. I had heaps and heaps of fun on some roads i havn't been on before up north a couple of weeks ago, but in saying so i havn't put the new machine over the kopu's (coro loop). I have also heard of this russel road up north or something. Anyone keen/have an idea. Just testing the waters :spudwave: :spudwave:

dont go near the old russel road, went up this this saturday and it has turned to absolute shit with loose gravel and sections of roadworks the whole way

Well there was just 2 of us. There was rain but a lot more sun, wet roads and a lot more dry. And after 420km the wrists are a bit sore but i had heaps of fun ........... next time i hope the roads are a bit dryer so i can really stretch the cibby's legs. Had heaps of fun though cheers nhuan

Origami feck mate you gotta be a contortionist to fit onto that thing. Have you fiddled with the suspension??? you might be able to get some of the weight off your wrists but it will probably make the front end too light..

I also noticed your brakes were really soft compared to the cbr. Is that just because it's set up that way or because i have braided lines???

really really want one now ............ but only if i don't have to take up yoga to fit on

Yup, I find the Ninja's front brake takes a bit of lever squeeze to bite. Asked the fella at the last service and he reckoned they were "looking good". Hmmm....

Luckily I don't ride fast enough to require sharp anchoring
Didn't need to use the cibber's brakes much on that short run to Waitakaruru

is it really that bad? my gixxer's no gold wing but I did manage to get to get to Russel and back in a day without sore wrists even though I spent most of the time on the highway (6hrs riding). I recall WT poo-pooing the idea that his alstare was hard to live with as well (but then, he's hard... just ask him, he'll tell ya! )

I guess it's relative. My K1 750 (same dimensions as your Alstare) was a bit more comfy, right up 'til the bit when it decided to superman itself into a car

But I've realised that I've chosen not to ride a luxo-barge, favouring the rice rocket instead, so that's part of my riding life. The Gixxer I rode down to Taupo (so about 2.5hrs) without a drama, the 636 I manage about 1.5hrs. But then, I am a midget, not a hulking mass of a man like aff

But damn, his 600F was like a Goldwing after 3 hours+ on the Ninja!

pfft, whatcha on about ya wusses? 636s aren't tourers, so cause you'll ache on long cruisey rides. I did coro and back, and couldn't move the next day. just gotta suck it up and enjoy the ride.
btw, my brakes are sharp as, have yours always been soft? I also want to stick braided lines on it..
