As a young lad Leopard used to be the brew, came in shrink-wrapped twin packs. Tui ain't bad either.

I seem to recall that Mr Graeme Crosby identified something like 20 beers in a blind taste test years ago. Not just local ones either. Truly talented.

And if there was a prize for the "Lamest Cheerleaders in Christendom" that prize would be awarded to the Hurricanes' "cheer team". Sad. Very, very sad...

Too many JRs on this forum, but just in case you're asking me, I'm sure it's just fine and dandy. If you're worried about its fitness for consumption, you're welcome to swing by my place and share the pain...

A colleague just got back from the UK with a catalogue from a whisky shop in London. The most expensive thing in it was a bottle of Glenfiddich from 1937, going for £11,000.

I also noted that prices on the more pedestrian malts that I drink regularly were rather better than what we pay here at the current exchange rate, particularly for the Islay stuff. Laphroaig *should* be about NZD50-60 a bottle, but you can't find it anywhere for under $110, usually. No idea why.

I like the Belgian dark stuff

Birds Liquorsave sold Black Baron for a while, to me, lots, after they dropped the price to induce sales. It was a dark lager and yes, there is such a thing. Current fav is Leffe, available in blonde and dark. Get it from Foodtown or Countdown when it's on special, I doubt you'll be disappointed. Yum.
