AKL - Taupo, Sat 9th for Trackday 10th

This ride will cater for any riders leaving Auckland or regions between, i.e. we can arrange to meet up with the Hamilton crew.
This will be leaving Auckland at around 11am, the venue is still TBA. (Watch this space, but it is likely to be Mt Wellington Caltex)

I am still considering 2 options:
    a) Clevedon, Kaiaua, SH2, SH27, *, Tirau, SH1, Taupo. * could side track to Hamilton for lunch at this point, otherwise it will probably be lunch in stinky old Tirau.

    b) Bombay, SH22, Hamilton for Lunch, SH1, Taupo.

    c) Decide on the day/Just follow our noses.

The goal is to arrive at Taupo by around 4-5pm for Motel check in. All skill levels welcome, we will wait at appropriate points for you.

Let me know what your general consesus is. Please be aware 'follow your nose' to me _could_ mean I'll probably go the most boring route (ie SH1 the whole way), so if that's not your 'cup of tea', don't suggest it to me.

Please meet at Papakura autobahn around 12.
If you need us to meet you somewhere else on the way, i.e. Hamilton or wherever, please post here by 11am otherwise TXT or call me on O21 556 OO8

Well if i was in auckland i'd vote for out Miranda way, (me has got a score to settle on a certain road out Kaiua way ) but i'd head over Kopu get the Hammy crew to meet ya there, then do 25/25A hit Waihi - Tauranga - Rotovegas then Taupo, now thats a good blast, but alas i'm in welly for the 9th so i'll be looking to hook up with any welly crew heading up sat late arvo/night or early sun morning.

Sounds like a good ride, but that's quite a few more km's, which is why I didn't intially list it. Don't want to be rolling up in the dark. Then again, if enough people are for it, we can go this way as well.

Count me in then, Mr Frost.

Unless of course, Limmy has beaten me to it.

Bruce, you got somewhere to stay yet?

    Double-Eeek!

Looks like an overwhelming preference for SH22...I might just have to play Evil Dictator and go route 1 anyway, even if it means playing Evil Dictator on my own.

    Hey Frost,
Thanks for the offer and apologies for the slow report. Busted laptop has meant that I haven't been able to check KB often.

If the room is still available then count me in. Thanks. I'll give you a call tonight and see what the story is anyways.

    Thanks again.

Can those who wish to ride down on Saturday please confirm by tomorrow night so I know who to wait for (if anyone) and can arrange a suitable meeting place and time.

    Hi DM

My partner and I will definitely be riding down on Saturday. Be leaving from Pukekohe so can meet up somewhere along the way.

Not sure what route to take, I did vote for the Miranda way but now thinking that I should take the easy way down to keep my body as happy as possible for the track on Sunday. Have been on a few longish trips on the VFR and always end up walkin like John Wayne the next day!

Anyway, see what happens....doesn't seem to be many people riding down so far??

Not specifically, but we can if you need to. Hell, we might end up going the boring route down SH1 at this rate. I'll confirm Friday night.
