We don't stop for sirens or flashing lights in the Tron...

    Saw it again on Saturday....

T intersection. The top of the T is a four lane road. The stem of the T is a regular two lane road. The intersection is controlled by lights, bein' as how it carries high traffic volume.

As I pass through the intersection, on the green light, along the top of the T, I hear and then see an ambo approaching up the stem of the T. I see him indicating to turn my way and come up behind me. Having been well educated in the manners (and laws) of road use, I duly pull over to the left, clear of the intersection, and wait for the ambo to come past, assuming that the traffic behind me would yield right of way as the ambo approached...Ha! Fat fucking chance...
The traffic just kept truckin' on through and held the ambo up for some twenty seconds until the bloody lights turned red and they finally stopped. Fuck, if I had been the ambo driver I would have had the horn on the whole time and been screaming abuse and profanities out the window at the mindless fucking morons who don't have the intelligence to give way to an emergency vehicle that is stuck out in the middle of an intersection, in full view of all, lights ablaze and siren wailing, waiting for somebody, anybody, to do what they are required to do and LET THE BLOODY THING THROUGH!!!!

Fark that, I'm glad you're not.

Cops have to stand back and watch all sorts of idiotic bullshit go down, and mostly theres fuck all they can do except write the ticket out once the screaming and flying metal shards have died off. Taking it personally don't help anyone, least of all yourself.

Relax man, it's not your problem.

Perhaps the Ambo's should carry syringes of lethal injection stuff. Just blow-dart the cage driving morons.

A bit dissapointing. Especially when it is emergency services that could be trying to save someone's life.

I've been feet up in one of them before.. And I tell that to the passengers in my car as I serve violently to the curb everytime one comes up behind me.

    Ambos FTW.

I saw one the other day coming down the road towards the traffic lights. Some mindless bint in an SUV in the right lane (ambulance was behind her) actually sped up, making it even harder for it to pass.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

its the same here as well. number of times they get ignored is beyond a joke, and its not only ambulances either, fire engines have the same trouble, cept i think they have louder horns.
i always make a point of listening for sirens before putting my lid on so i can be aware that something important may come up behind me. i do the same when going in the anyones car.

Had that on the motorway into Wellington a few weeks back (in my car).

Saw the lights coming from behind about 200 metres behind me.

I start pulling into the left shoulder.

Crazy [description of person removed to avoid sterotyping Asian women drivers] behind me has no idea what's going on and looks like she wants to pass me.

Ambulance turned on its' siren when it got behind her. I was half-watching in my mirror and saw her nearly jump through her roof.

Amazingly, when it was past, she still seemed to want to overtake me, before I could move back into my normal lane position.

What pisses me off is when traffic is heavy, and an ambo cruises past. You think you'll let the ambo go past and resume your journey but there's always a bunch of fuknuckles following the ambo so closely that you can't and you end up sitting there...

I've also seen a lot of people freak out and completely freeze when they realise there's an emergency vehicle behind them. It's not that hard to move out of the way but it's certainly gotta be a PITA for the ambo driver if people just stop where they are and sit there

Having spoken to some of the fire guys...

You would think it was a slightly different story for a 12 ton truck, carrying several tons of water etc? Nope...

gremlin... i work in town over the weekends. we will hear at least one fire engine go through the nearby intersection during those 2 days. more often than not though, there are two engines and both are leaning on the horns due to dopey buggers, cars and pedestrains, not getting out of the way.

Its my pet peve people not moving out of the way for a copper, ambo or firefighter.

If the lights are a flashing and the sirens a tooting then they obvously have somewhere to be in a hurry. Why people refuse to move the fuck outa the way i dont know.
Fear is never a reason to quit. It's only an excuse.
