    Microwave shop-door sensor thingy?

Ok I'm trying to get my hands on one of those little black boxes that sit above automatic door openers. You see them above shop doors all the time. They use a microwave doppler unit to sense movement nearby.

Can anyone in the trade get me one?

    many thanks,
    Steve

Hehe.. I want to modulate the varactor in it with a triangle wave and use it as an FMCW distance measuring doodad. It might also be fun to play with pointing it at moving things and listening to the doppler on a speaker. It would be a cool toy I reckon.

Can you still buy a "Hot Wheels" radar gun from ToyWorld or wherever?
No doppler sound to listen to but a km/h reading. Not sure how accurate it is tho... and not sure if they still even sell them. Would be cool to play with tho

I didn't know there was a kids toy like that. I would be very surprised if they would allow such a toy these days. 24GHz is not really something you want to point at your eyes or your nads.
