Early July- East cape, Waikaremoana. 250 Friendly

    Hey all

School holidays coming up and I'm keen for a ride sometime in the first week (6-12 July).

I'm really only planning at the moment but have some ideas-

    Te Puke
East cape clockwise sounds nice to do again.
    Possibly Gisborne overnight
    Through Wairoa to Waiakremoana
    Overnight Waikaremoana
    Towards Rototrua and the lakes
To Te Puke, don't know which way yet.

    Roughly http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?f=d&so...8,7.075195&z=7

I ride a GN so I'm no speed freak, hence the 250cc friendly part. I'm happy tagging along with bigger bikes and those that have know that =D

Ive only done the Cape twice on my own and Waikaremoana on the back of dads when I was a little younger so please please give me input on stuff that I may not be aware of.

Waikaremoana is gravel so just note that.

    Anyone keen?

    B-T

Uhh, you do realise that road will be rough as crap through Waikaremoana this time of the year?

Why is it rougher at this time of the year?
    Should be exiting then.

What I mean is, it will be hours and hours of fighting through muddy shitty road. Good fun on a dual-purpose bike, but those on GT250R's etc would be pretty pissed off and white-kuckled by the time they came out the other side of it, if they manged to come out unscathed at all. The GN will be fine, but expect to have one oopsie at least.

You can easily check it out.. cruise up to Murupara and ride towards Waikaremoana as far as you dare. It's an easy and safe ride, and you can turn around at any time. But theres no way I would take my roadbike in there - just the cleanup job would be massive, and thats if I didn't bend anything..

You could split the ride over two days and use the Napier Taupo highway instead.

    I see.
I was planning to do a few nights anyway so I might as well extend it through Napier etc.
    Thanks Steve.

So just me at the moment guys?
