Leather jacket that fits?

Here is a problem. Both leather jackets I have had ride up at the back around the neck and push on the bottom of the helmet. This was not a problem on my last bike, a Street Triple (up right riding position) but on the Busa where the riding position and arms are forward my shoulders lift the jacket a bit with the neck leather pushing on the helmet. BTW - the jackets are the correct size and I couldn't fit anything smaller.

My Revit cordura jacket fits perfectly. There is more thickness in the leather than cordura so that contributes to the issue.

Obviously I need a jacket designed for a sports bike. My current jacket is an early model Quasi. I have tried on a number of jackets in bike shops and they all seem to hunch/lift at the back of the neck. Can anyone recommend a jacket that doesn't bunch across the shoulder neck area when in a sports bike riding position?

a leda leather one..the arms are attached to the jacket in a "forward" position.The problem is its not that comfortable when you are not on the bike....(for leda read any custom built jacket)

My partner has worked in the clothing biz for years and says that the riding up and hitting the helmet is a symptom, so you need to see what is causing it.

It might be the jacket is too short down the back, causing it to ride up: esp if you have something of a belly (not casting aspersions, jsut saying) if this is a sports jacket it will be cut shorter whereas most textile jackets are longer (3/4 length). Or the jacket could have the correct size arms but be too narrow across the shoulders. Or you might need a jacket with more rotation in the sleeves.

The jacket might be half a size too small all over (rather than too big).

Hi Dude, you need one with Spandex on the back behind the shoulders, check out the new ones on qmoto.co.nz and you will see how they are made these days, very different

All jackets ride up - maybe it depends on your riding style. Get a jacket that you can zip to your pants, that would help prevent your problem.

Yes a zip helps, but most zips are on an elastic fabric so its a help only, the thing on a sportsbike is that when you lean forward you lift the jacket up with your shoulders, this is why you need spandex in behind the shoulder, youre right tho if you have a zipper but have a spandex panel behind the shoulder it solves the problem.

In saying that tho the jackets need to be worn in a bit to get the stiffness out .

Had the same problem when switching from my old bonnie.Had to sell the old jacket and have now got a Hein Gericke which solved it.

Mine doesn't - it fits perfectly, and I have no problems with misbehaviour of any kind. Even without being zipped to the pants, it doesn't ride up. But it has - like Quasi recommends - elasticated gussets in the shoulders, where the back of the sleeves connect to the shoulders, and also has spandex-type material in the crook of each elbow, and curved arms.
It's a crap jacket in some ways, but not for fit and comfort.

Another contributing factor seems to be the jacket length at the front. The bottom edge of the jacket sits on the thighs and holds the jacket up. I tried on an Alpine stars jacket and it had a much shorter front but had other fit problems.

Any jacket will do on a cruiser but not a sports bike.

Like the perfect woman it is also hard to get the perfect jacket.

But would be interested to see it in action doing this, fancy a ride down as I would like to actually help/see the issue for R&D reasons ?

That all sounds a bit technical. However, when in Hamilton (in the spring) I will try on your gear - unless I find something in the meanwhile. BTW I like your prices.

fwiw leda leathers as an example has been in business for years....at one time his mainline of business would have been racing leathers and that speaks volumes for the quality.I use Leda as an example cos he is local and is a name i know....i bet there are others..you can see examples of their work

Get a custom one from Quasi - I'm an odd shape (big boobs, big hips, short legs) and the ones he made me fit like a glove!!!
