    Hey,
Sorry if anyone turned back to look for me. I headed home after Waimaku.
Went over some nasty corugations and ripped some tendons in me busted hip.
Could not catch up to anyone to say I was going back because as you can guess- it was agony on every bump.
I generally expect the old bike, not the body to break down.
The specialist said last week I could try walking a little, guess he did not figure on Old North Rd and ancient suspension though.
Hope everybody had a good safe ride, the speed was perfect for me and I am bummed out I could not continue. Always next time.
    Post some pics eh?

    P.S.
So Paps, I'm not as tough as you think I am eh?

Sorry to hear about the hip Dodgyiti. Frosty did take a run back down Old North Rd to check you were OK, but when he didn't find you we made a guess that the hip may have played up?

Nice looking restoration job on the Guzzi by the way. I'll have to let my mate with the V50 know what he has to aim for with his restoration work!

We had an enjoyable ride up to Mangawhai for lunch, generally within licence-keeping speeds. However the riding gods decided that one blown head gasket would be the price for a nice day. Frosty is saving the day again by picking up the bike and rider from just south of Wellsford in his van. That man deserves a DB (or beer of choice!)

And a big up to Sparky, for giving me a hand at Mangawhai, when, on leaving, I discovered a decided lack of power! Thought it was the key but discovered the battery was dead flat! Key is now so worn, it must have flicked the ignition back on as I took it out. I didnt notice, but Crashe said something about someones lights on...........
After cutting the ignition lead and discovering it was a flat battery.......Sparky swapped his battery, started my bike then we swapped batteries back....and I was back on my vibrating way. Well done that man!
So, managed to get to Mangawhai and lunch, without actually riding with anyone else....is that good ...or just antisocial

    Cool

SPman.... yep I did yell out your lights were on... but ya thought it was ya park lights...lol... oh well at least ya got home safe and sound...

After finding out where he was, I rode down to tell our friend with the blown head gasket that Frosty was on his way... I found him 6.7km down the road.... lying on the side of the road having a wee nap...lol.

So I whipped back to the garage and got him some water to drink and a paper to read while he waited for Frosty... I left him at 3.30pm...it was so hot out there on the side of the road.
So after that I shot home down SH1 and as I turned off Constellation Drive I could here a clunking noise.. stopped the bike and discovered that I had lost 2 screws holding the chain guard on were missing so I took the last screw off....

I called into Frosty's to let him know where to find our friend.... and that his cell ph was off.

When I got home, I decided to clean my chain and relube it...

Well horror of horrors... I have discovered 4 broken spokes and some of the the others are loose..

So my question is where is the cheapist place to get this fixed....
and how long will it take???? and what sort of cost???

    I live in west Auckland

Your most welcome....it was nice to see you all following me all at a safe distance..lol.

Have fun with your new bike.... and I hope you soon figure out how many kms you will get to the tank full before hitting reserve.

Speedpro has contacted me re the spokes... so I just have to wait til Tuesday to go looking at spokes, down at Henderson Bikes.

Come on more rides with us all...

And Thanks to Limmy for organising the ride.

Well that was a fun ride. Almost as much fun as SH22, in fact...

But next time, let's make sure the organizer has everyone's cellphone number...

Limmy, thanks for organising the ride.!! Thanks to Crashe, Frosty, MikeL, Sparky and all the others that helped keep everything in smooth running order.

The pace of the ride was perfect. The roads were brilliant and the SUN... was shining....

The best thing about the ride today was the senior riders taking care of the junior riders. Frosty would make sure nobody was left behind. This is really good as it gives newbies the confidence to go on a group ride. I hope more people will join next time.

It was nice meeting all of you, and it was a pity I had to leave earlier.

I am looking forward to the next newbie ride.

No, wouldn't have been Mike L, he rides a real bike - It was me on the RRR.

Another piece of advice: Pay attention to the condition of the bike belonging to the rider offering tips. If it looks like mine then take everything said with a grain of salt.

I hope those lines I was showing you did help somewhat. There's heaps written about good lines here, and so far I think getting my lines sorted been the biggest breakthrough I've had in safety and enjoyment of my riding.

If I had some ripped tendons I'd expect I'd have huddled up in a little ball of pain and tears at the side of the road, not tried to catch up with everybody else!
