    hi folks - skuzzie

    hi everyone

was pointed here by a mate and fuck there's a load of helpful shit on here! so i figured i'd best join up.

got my license and bike a few months ago after i wrote off my last car into a powerpole, which i woulda missed on a bike! keen to get out on some of the faster rides now i've got the hang of bikes before I start ripping into modding up my ride.

does anyone know where you can get some cheap insurance though? that stuff is goddam expensive! can't afford that on my budget aye i'd rather buy a couple of pairs of tyres.

should catch some of your guys round soon with any luck!

    Welcome to Kiwi Biker.

I draw your attention to the keyboard in front of you. Five keys down on the very lefthand side is a key with "Shift" and a big arrow on it pointing upwards.

Holding that key down whilst typing produces capital letters. Convention dictates that these are used to begin the first words of sentences and proper nouns. Try it.

Full marks, however, on your most excellent use of punctuation!

Lemmie try....KKKKKK wow look at that, yes, yes it does, apart from learning that it can rain without clouds today, that capitals thing is brilliant.

    newbie checklist ;

    - crashed last car in horrific fashion
    - only been riding for three months and has the hang of bikes
    - has fastest learner bike possible
    - already wants faster bike that he can hot up
    - can miss things on bikes that cars hit
    - is uninsurable

Yup, checklist fully completed! Person is walking dead man.

Gidday man, nice bike you have, hopefully you live long enough to enjoy it to its fullest

Insurance is expensive because the insurance company will no doubt see you as high risk, ie you have one of the most notorious kid-killers in the business (I say this because RGV's are known to spit newbies off faster than you can say power band), you have wrapped a car around a pole and you are a young fulla.

If you really want to show people you have skills than you have heaps of options mate, there is heaps of bike skills courses available in Auckland, I really suggest you head to a couple, they may save your life.. Also there is track days to head to on a fairly regular basis, where you can cane your bike to within an inch of its life in amongst like minded people, in a safe environment.

Remember keep the rubber side down eh

what is the bdotgnza and smc when they're at home?

it was six hundred bucks to insure my first car, which was a bit of a good idea because it meant that after that was gone i could get the celica, but couldn't get insurance on that. they want nine hundred a year just for a little learner bike, and aa flat-out refused. bugger it i guess, don't need it if ya don't crash.

    gatch - what's a power band?

can you get traction control systems for bikes? or do i just have to get used to sliding about in the wet? the bike seems to be okay in the dry; the front wheel keeps coming up when gunning it off the lights, but in the wet it's like driving on ice!

Has an RG250 and doesn't know what a power band is? Maybe your bike is never out of its power band?

Good luck finding someone to insure you dude .... I can recommend cheap places, but with your history, they probably won't be cheap for you!

The cheapest I found was $500 annually of $612.50 including gears, but that is with my pretty much perfectly clean driving history!

Sorry dude, but best of luck!
