    Bike value?

Been looking at getting a 250 to commute to UNI on recently. Don't want anything too flash and nothing with plastics this time. Last bike was a CBR 250 which was great but such a pain in the arse if you drop it. Guaranteed to break some obscure plastic part when you do that.

Anyway been looking at something like a Kawasaki Eliminator. My problem is that people get this idea that bikes depreciate in value so far and then level out at the $4000 mark regardless of condition anyone else notice this. There are a few good value bikes on Trade Me that don't obey this trend but they are few and far between (http://tinyurl.com/le2vy5 is a good example).

I don't want to pay $5g for a bike that is 20+ years old when I can get a brand new one for a few $g more.

Is it just me or do other people think this too?

I'd stick to the cbr, and just try not to drop it! You could always get some crash knobs on it to hopefully hold the plastics above the ground when you drop it.

Mate try the tu250 tracker, looks brillant and a 2nd hand one is 3.5k
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

Mate, at this time of the year you are able to pick up bikes very cheaply.

This gives you very little depreciation and the flexability to trade up or down in the summer.

Get the bike you like and learn how to ride it without the need to put it down.

Yeah I sold it last year to pay for um.... stuff. Now I want to get something a little more sturdy and better value for money.
