Thanks for the reminder. Can't on Saturday but will certainly get my butt down there on Monday.

Do they still provide a yummie cookie and nice cuppa after?

I've been told that I can't give blood untill they have cleared a possible problem with somthink to do with my heart. Are you able to do a blood and tell is what blood type we are?

You'd have to call the 0800 number buddy, I'm not qualified to give advice, but I think I recall that they can check for your blood type, and I think they can do this when operating out of the mobile unit as well, but maybe just call to confirm

There's some comprehensive info at the website too

They'd have a half litre of my 'red gold' O- if the clumsy bitch last time hadn't rooted my veins in the process of putting the needle in, causing crap flow into the bag - then she had the audacity to blame it on me being 'not hydrated enough'.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

If you go in to your 'local' NZ Blood Centre they can do a finger prick and tell you.

    Snap.
I'm A+ but still have another 2 weeks before I can give blood again because it is too close to the last time.

I'm in Auckland and a regular donor. I got a call today saying they were desperately short of O+ as well and asking if I can come in, so the problem must be more widespread than just Tauranga. I wonder if they'll start testing for sswine flu ...

They can't be that desperate, or they'd let english people donate.
