Tauranga NZ Blood Service Types O and A urgently needed

Right, I'm all booked in for the 2nd of July Haven't given blood since I was in grammar school. I'm O+ so hopefully they can do some good with that.
One thing they've never seemed to pick up on (can some medically inclined person fill me in here?) is that I've got a 'negative antigen'. Don't think it makes much difference giving blood but when I ruptured my spleen and had lots of internal bleeding the hospital said it'd be hard to get blood for me because of that. Just says O+ on my donor card though, does that matter?

Negative Antigen, I think I understand the concept, I won't explain the reason why, but twice I've had to have an injection of an antigen.

Because the situation wouldv'e been different, it's best if you ask the NZBlood crew, they're qualified. Google searching E-medicine is good too! Concise medical explanations!
