    Learning CURVE

Woohoo! Sun today! beautiful day for a ride, so off to the Rotomas I go.
The ride there was great! I didn't have time to go to whakatane so I turned around at the kauwerau turn off and went back over.
I could see there was a bit of ice on the road and a few wet patches but nothing major.
Got stuck behind a truck but he was nice enough to pull over and let me go past
Then....I get to the 35k corners fun fun! the first couple were....But then I come to a left hand 35k corner, I'm doing about 50k.... crash slide ouch.

Before I knew it my poor wee minton was on the other side of the road on its side Although I have to say the view of everything when I was sliding was quite a sight.
The first thing that went through my mind was FUCK am I going to get run over!? Fortunately there was nothing coming!!
Second thought...OH MY GOD!!! My fairings!!! they're going to be falling off and broken it's going to cost me a fortune!!!

So I run over to the bike pick it up....YES!! I PICKED IT UP LOL..........No damage apart from scratches on the foot peg, clutch lever, end of left handle bar and the plastic cover of the mirror...other than that nothing!
Next thought was.....Crap I hope it still goes!! I couldnt get it into neutral....so I pulled the clutch in and pushed the button and it starts! YAAAAYY!!!!
I couldn't stop grinning!! WTF why am I smiling!?!?
    IT WAS CRAZY!!!

My knees both hurt, no blood though. The right more than the left and I have scratches on the chin of my helmet and theres a whole in the left knee of my coudura pants....(mums actually, SORRY mum! and a scratch on meh jacket

But other than that I'm fine!

Just thought I would share my 1st "bad experience"
Bad isn't the way to describe it though haha

A great piece of road but always ready to bite the unwary as you have found out.A good result as far as crashes go.One car coming from Rottenvegas at the wrong time and you wouldn't be posting!

Well u woundering how u would react if u crashed, there u go! Told ya in that situation u just end up doing wot's gota be done and get shaken later. Good to hear u'r ok tho, and it's a miracle u didnt get more damage to ur fairings (my poor fairings always get the hardest hit). Not too shaken that u won't be getting back on ur bike i hope!

    You are very lucky!

I fell off (At about 8-12km/hr), landed on my chest and brused myself internaly nicely, Scraped my fairings, and my exhaust.

I got the total back from the shop today $4000, $1700 of that was the fancy pancy Exhaust on the 07 R6

This is my first road experience too, does not sound as spectacular as yours, I went down rather than slid. Just rolled a few times.

Hope you heal well, take care out there!

If your helmet touched the ground you'll probably be told to get a new one. Your bike is capable of going around a 35k corner at 50kph so have a think about what went bad.

There is no "learning" unless you know what you did wrong , sucks to learn the hard way sometimes though! Good to hear you and your bike are all good

You plonker! Glad you are not too damaged sweets. That road is quite hard when you make contact with it. Try and figure out what happened too. Very important to work through what you did, or did not do to cause the off.

Mom can probably claim for replacement helmet and pants on her insurance, you get to pay the excess

Wow, I'm impressed that you could still pick your bike up and pootle on, despite obvious damage to both you and steed. Glad to hear you're ok, although don't be too surprised if delayed, well, I won't say "shock" 'cos I don't think it will be quite that, but "realisation" sinks in more about what could have gone wrong. (This has obviously already crossed your mind, sometimes time creates a difference in perspective).

Great to hear you got back on and have already been out again. :

p.s. also amazing that your faring is intact, mine has had to be replaced twice and it's no fun sitting through the wait for it to come from Japan (and definitely no fun on the wallet either....)

I know what happened...I accelerated around the corner and the must have been ice on the road and the back wheel came out from underneath me.

Doesn't put me off riding though.

lol you egg. Yeah theres always SOMEthing on the Rotomas.. sand, or wet patches, or some slippery shit somewhere. It's pretty rare to get a straight run through there without having to dodge something. I dumped my bike yesterday just doing a bloody U turn, and it rattled me for hours, so you're doing well.

Arse with the slippery roads for sure. Being put off is a mind set.

Before I became a mature and sensible road rider, I used to ride off road. Could not tell you the amount of times I ate dirt. Been winded, bruised and battered a few times. Hasn't put me off so far. Had a few close shaves on the road, and one very slow speed off (fucking dogs). Biking is good fun.
