Mines competitive in the right hands... $1200 if I built it right now as it is. But I started with a $100 bucket and 'developed' it over 4 years into what it is. $3-3500 over 4 years is not bad. About even for a FXR over 4 years really.

The rules are good and people can spend what they like. It'll still cost you much the same to be at the front with whatever way you go - CBR, FXR, MB...

mny first bucket cost $50 CB125T but I gave up on it when looking at how much it needed to get ready (new frount end forks + brakes) the guy that brought it off me spent $2000 on it before the first race (and nothing since )
it's still fast today but need a rebuild and bore to 150cc

my first gp125 cost me $150 to buy

and in it's rs form owes me less than $1500

but I can tell you someone has spent heeps more on it than that

just a standard engine rebuild with new parts can cost
    and machining is not free
new shocks I got Olins on the rs and a bent rear shock on the old bike
and have you ever priced new slicks ???? $600+ a set
or a set of spare wheels
