First time I've been on it last weekend and I came 'round the L/H sweeper to really notice that concrete wall along the end back straight for the first time. Yeah, I've seen it before, but all of a sudden you realise what you are gonna hit if it all goes pear shaped. The big boys will be carrying some serious speed around there and it kinda goes off camber coming onto the main circuit too.

Even along the short chute between the two 90deg R/H's the trees aren't too far off if you got loose after the first one.

I talked Sue at Manfeild and she doesn't know of any plan to scrap it - just no plan to develop it. Off the record and not the official word of course, I just asked her direct and that's what she said. She doesn't know where the 'scrapping' story came from but it seems to have gotten around.

"As I understand it they are going to scrap soon as its not utilised enough"...........................NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOO!!!

Lucky someone squashed that rumor straight away!

Get rid of the low side lump where the drain is aroung the sweeper and that would be an awesome track!!!

Not that great for the little 2 smoker but it really is a riders track!!

Also from a spectators point you cant see the bikes all that well once they are on the extended part. You also need alot more Marshalls as there are 4 more points to cover.
I would be very interested to find out from those riders who raced on the weekend what their thoughts were regarding racing on the extended part of the Manfeild circuit?.
WICKED CIRCUIT SUE!!!!!!! WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better than only the front...its by far my favorite circuit now! 4.5km or there abouts is a great distance for races....BIG thumbs up for running this track as much as possible. As far as the surface its still ample better than taupo at the moment and heaps of grip....even that bump on the left hander back to the front part of the circuit...just need to be aware of it....as with the two ripples heading off the front part. Adds to the skill level.

Gravel traps, marshal points, curbing, track edge lines, removal of the buildings and posts etc...
If this is the case why can they still use Pukekohe???? surely that can't be up to FIM standard??? Manfield is heaps safer than Pukekohe!

You Wairarapa types are all related though aren't ya ? (cue duelling banjos)

I hadn't really paid any attention to the lack of run off before Saturday when I nearly had an intimate encounter with the tyre wall.

Further to Billy's comment I was there when Aaron did the demo laps on the RC45 and it was the year the Irish came including one Joey Dunlop. John Britten was still alive and was a bit taken aback that Aaron in just a few quick demo laps did faster laps than the Britten had and Aaron also pulled one very long mono down the front straight too. Why the hell couldn't that guy Aaron win a world championship?
    Cheers

he could have I reckon if he hadnt got that brain tumour.

My opinion he is one of the best racers ever

Also I did notice that wall coming back onto circuit but a air fence would solve that issue and just dont look there and hopefully you wont head towards it

Its espically slippery on the outside of that last corner back on to the normal track. Somewhat freaky having the wall so close and having the back come round on you!, but i guess i haven't seen nothing yet without ridden @ pukie.

I love the challenge of the long track and the change it provides to the shorter circuit. I haven't been able to find any confirmation that the long circuit is to be disposed of so we should be able to keep using it until we wear it out. Getting enough marshals is always a challenge for the long-track but Nigel is getting a really solid team of awesome marshals consolidated. Best we look after them so please continue to show your appreciation people. Their sweat is worth bottling.
