Well arrived first thing Saturday morning set up pit,
got my warmers on my bike and had riders breifing,
I knew the weekend would be difficult with the freezing temperatures,
Qualifying f3/PRO TWIN
Went out onto track and familiarised myself with the circuit on the 650 as I had only rode it about 2 laps in the wet there last year.
Also I was getting my first test on my CKT built front end on a circuit I knew and dry conditions.
Went out and circulated round the first couple of laps had stuff all grip and was struggling with the bump on the left hander that joined the new circuit to the old,
Coming into the pits I got dad to alter a few clicks on the rear shock and out I went again and tryed it out the change madea massive difference but still wasnt perfect as I was getting the mega bounce off it.
Qualifying saw me qualify 32nd 2 places higher than round 1 and not what I was wanting but I had to make the most of it.
The line up saw me positioned on the 8th? row on the very outside next to the pit wall.
Race 1:
Down on the dummy grid Robert Taylor came over and gave the bike a few bounces and a few tweaks for me and got me to go out on circuit and try it.
The track was really cold and getting heat in my tires was a issue so I made the most of my warm up lap zig zagging to get as much heat in the side walls as possible.
The lights lite up and out they went I got a good start from down the back and managed to get about 10 bikes off the line into turn 1 gassing out the rear wheel started twitching and I was caught up in a group of bikes I tryed to get by but it wasnt going to happen as they had all the lines blocked across the circuit.
A good drive out of the hair pin onto the Dennis Hulme straight allowed me to get past and get a bit of room.
Soon I was on the back of Tim Baker and Nicki and a RGV 250.
I managed to get tim under brakes on the long circuit hairpin and pass around the outside in which I nearly came off trying this cranked over I got on the gas way to hard and spun the back wheel but I got by but I was really really tight for the left hander and couldnt avoid the massive bump there and got really unsettled on it my knee was bouncing on and off the ground and the front wheel was twitching away I managed to hold onto it and catchonto the back of the RGV
A couple of laps and I got passed him and started trying to catch the Yellow Tweaty bike I cant remember where I got the pass and tryed to catch the green ZXR400 in front of us but it wasnt to be and crossed the line in 22nd position. So I gained 10 places form my start position and got 2nd to last in the pro twins result. Also my lap times were alot faster than in qualifying.
Races 2:
A differnt day and talking to people they said the track was allready alot grippyer than the day before so I went out and found out on the warm up lap it was.
Another good start but Tom Weston on his Pro Twin 650 managed to crack a massive wheelstand in frotn of me I had to bck of not the shunt him in the rear, I got passed and put my head down and passed a few bikes but couldnt get anyone I tryed a new trick on the long left hander to see if I could settle my bike by lifting my knee of the ground so it wasnt dragging on the bumps it made a huge differnce and I could actually carry more corner speed also as I could get the bike to turn in later with more speed and use the Torque to drive me off the corner.
On the Final lap on the back section the blue flag came out and Geoff Booth passed me I followed him for the remander of the lap learning from him and found out I could go a shit load faster than I was going and managed to this time cross the line with a best time of 2:17 and 17th overall on circuit and gained another position in the pro twins result.
Race 3:
Another good start and this time I got into a good dice with Tom Weston on his SV 650 on about the 3rd lap I finally passed him going onto the new circuit up the inside and managed to pull a gap my lap board came out and let me know I also did my personal best for the wekend with a 2:14 so I was improving all weekend and was rather impressed.
The bike just near the end was slowly losing grip on the rear and I was coming out of turn 1 sliding the exit which actually wasnt to badder feeling but really shreadded the side of my tire.
Once again I finished 17th overall and a new personal best for the long circuit.
I didnt have the results I was wanting but I am improving and know what to work on for next time.
So thanks to Team JDR
and PFR Motorcycles
Also A big thank you to the organisers and the marshells.
Also congratulations to my brother who managed his personal best laps in 125 and got with in 1 second of the lap record with a 2nd place and a 3rd and got 3rd overall for weekend
