No problem asking questions Shaun and I will answer them when I know the answer...my problem was in the tone of your question...as Sinfull has quite rightly pointed out, there are other ways to find out 'factual' answers apart from waiting for me to answer you...I would have answered had I known...but I didn't.
Anyway, sorry if I snapped at you but it seems its all about 'shoot the mesenger' around this thread (not just you) rather than a positive discussion on what Redline is trying to do!
as you were...
Biggles Have a looksee at this post Its definitely NOT what Darrin is saying at all. He is only apearing to want current MNZ licence holders (or perhaps at a stretch recently past gonna be again racers)

What you posted is a friggin fantastic idea (yea I do lay claim to having it first) I don't give a rats ass who actually acts on the idea.
This would be the PERFECT transition from trackdayer to racer BUT the must be a MNZ licence holder bit stuffs it up.
Im totally aware of the issues he's dealing of course and I can see the point. Just that a big chunk of his target audience is not elligable.

A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"
Bowls can wait !

They are that good that all the wingers can now complain that the patches are too grippy!!!
I had fun yesterday. Started to remember how to ride... Got so much track time in before lunch that i had to go down to BP and get more gas... Also got to try a few race starts which was useful!
The track people have done a good job of the 2nd half of the patch on turn 7 and the one on the 2nd to last corner, I hope they do the rest quickly...
Well at least when someone "up north" puts on a practice/track day you have SOME interest (see my latest thread)![]()
I say just get out there and support it if you want to see it continue and if you dont wanna go........ then stay infront if the fire and keep quiet!
With people such as these organising more & more track time it looks more and more promising to concentrate on racing in the north island when my young lad makes the step up to senior level next year.
PS...... BIGGLES there are many engineering/machining companies that are capable of undercutting....but beware if machined with the incorrect method it will strip the case hardening on the gear surface. Which will decrease the life of your new box A LOT. Im sure that many of the KB members know the correct methods and will advise you of them (i think spark erosion is one of the better ways)
Spare a thought for us "southies" we are racing in Invercargill next weekend...Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr![]()
I'm getting them done early this week in the evening...a mate of mine is a toolmaker so he's going to have a crack at them :-). I've heard various opinions on how to undercut them and some people are very concerned about a gearbox being heat treated and some reckon they are not...oh well!
