Winter Series 09: Screw the recession, I'm going racing!

Having spent the summer attending most of the meets in the North Island helping out Glenn Mason on his NSR250 in F3, the itch to get out there racing has spread into a full blown outbreak that a dose of anti-biotics just cant kill. With the help of Bill at motorcyclesonline.net, who has practically given me a gsxr400, I will be contesting the upcoming Actrix Superbike series.

    Goals:
Goals are simple. Get the laps in and have lotsa fun! The race within the F3 class will be for the first 400cc home. Bring it on!!

    Background:
I did a seasons racing in 2007. Taking in the tale end of the pacific summer series and doing most the winter series on a cbr250rr in street stock. I did alright (when I kept it upright!) then moved up to a SV650 in F3/protwins. However I didnt get on with the SV, didnt like the feel of it. I then went back to being a student so sold up the SV and brought a dirt bike for some cheap thrills. Last time I was on the track was the 2008 Pacific series at Taupo where it belted down with rain (late Jan I think?).

Its been a long time between drinks, and I cant wait to get out there again!! Im still a student though, so the gixxers specification will reflect this. It will just be a typical track bike/club bike. It needs tidying up all round. I will rebuild and modify the front and rear suspention, set up the egonomics, do the basic exhaust and airbox mods and give it a lick of paint, all done myself to keep the costs down!! In terms of thrills for your dollar, this bike will be king!

This thread is intended to be a rolling thread, so will be added to after each stage of bike development and racing.

Cheers big ears. Will see you guys out there!!

Nice one dude, I know the feeling. I went to pit for a mate one time when my bike was having the engine checked over. I felt sick to my stomach when the bikes all fired up after rider's briefing. I was like an addict that needed a hit...impossible to be around this racing game and not get out there once you've had a taste!

. Another hotly contested 400 battle in the Actrix Winter Series. I hope the slippery resurfacing at Manfield doesn't cause you any problems.

    Its done!

Race ready and almost ready for WOF. Tis going to be a commuter (on nice days!). Unfortunatley wont be at the first round as I think 2 hours on a motorbike this year does not make me ready for racing, especially on a new bike!- feeling a tad underdone. Will make it out at some stage tho, maybe round 2 if it doesnt clash with exams!
