Running = increased metabolism = you can get away with eating a lot of junk. A 21km run is equivalent to about 1,500 calories. I burned about 33,000 calories training for the wellington half.... me thinks me needs chocolate, icecream and custard tarts for dinner

Tell me about it. When I was in the Senior Eight (rowing) at school we were training up to 30hrs a week. I could eat as much as I wanted and almost put on no weight at all.

Then I stopped rowing, and kept eating. Took me just under 9 months to go from 85kg up to 102kg. Lost the abs and the fitness, but kept the stamina

where opinion holds more weight than fact.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

Haha, yeah I too can eat lots of naughty food and get away with it. But if i'm not running.. well lets just say my sz10 leathers don't do up no more . My bf on the other hand does no exercise and can eat BK 4 x week without consequence. Bastard!

Age is a bit of a killer when it comes to metabolism. I used to be 70kgs in my early twenties, now I can't get below 77kgs. Still not bad (I'm fitter and stronger than I used to be). Thought about entering Mr Puniverse when I was younger

A guy at work just did the marathon in 3:03. The winner did it in 2:36 and 10 minutes clear of second. Makes my effort look a little paltry by comparison.

For a good laugh and some inspiration - get a copy of Dean Karnazes book "Ultra marathon man".

I'm east(ish), run around the Panmure basin or along Tamaki drive if I'm not just going for a jog around the block.

Edit: oops just saw your post, looks like you're sorted.

Heya, I'm only sorted for a couple of weeks coz 1vanvan1 is heading south to join the Air force. I've done that run a few times- quite a good one! Flick me a PM when you're keen for one!

    Try being a bicycle courier.

Today's high-performance training diet: two sossidge rolls, a custard pie, and a Snickers.

And I was starving when I got home. Good thing there was cold pizza in the fridge!

    Ahem.

Don't let kiwifruit or madbikeboy read this post.
