So jrandom departed this fairest of cities at about 2:00pm -- escorted by some dude on a blue bike of indeterminate parentage. Hopefully the liver (and brain) didn't take too much punishment last night...

I noted that my decision to pike yesterday afternoon did wonders for the weather. I hope you enjoyed it!

We hope you enjoyed your short stay, and look forward to hosting you back this way again soon.

I was good to catch up with some old and new faces outside WMC yesterday afternoon.

That, my good sir, would be badlieutenant and his slightly senile (although he would say 'classic') VFR750, who (unlike me) had good and proper reasons to be in the capital over Easter weekend. We missed hooking up for Friday's ride down, but figured we might as well be bored together on the way back up.

I should note that 700km of SH1 while hung over and sleep-deprived is *not* one of life's more enjoyable and stimulating motorcycling experiences.

I fear the usual words along the lines of "woe is me, I shall never touch another drop" were muttered around sunrise, however the mettle of my native constitution, a brisk walk and a nice hot shower put paid to all that nonsense, and I was ready for French toast with bacon and banana by 12.

A certain diminutive KBer did not fare so well, however. Muahahahaha! Gentle Readers, I will limit myself to saying that at about 11am on Sunday morning, I truly regretted not having my digital camera.

I will also refrain, at this point, from making any haggis or porridge jokes.

I can concur on that one - but if you stay off SH1 it is much pleasanter, even in a sleep deprived state.

    Ahem.
Mr. Bad Lieutenant would like it to be know that his motorcycle is a 'classic'; venerable, possibly, finely aged like a fine French wine, without doubt... but senile....? At this point in our conversation he became quite choked up until I promised to sort you out, nasty boy. Consider yourself stared upon with steely eyes of the most gimlet-like variety that Scotland can manufacture. And we pride ourselves upon those, so there.
Oh, and he said (and I quote) "Senile might more accurately describe the type of person that does 150k on the Northern motorway while blocking insane women from Ponsonby in their flash Holdens from overtaking and *potentially* soaking up any H.P. attention hitherto excitedly focussed upon said senile person. For example."

I was poisoned by some Troll from Orcland, I'll have you know. "Here, drink this" he said... " it'll do you good" he said... "me granny swears by it" he said. Pshaw! If only I'd stuck to the good old Uisghe Beatha, I'd of been right.
If he darkens me portal again, I'll be setting ma wee Haggis on him... a vicious bite, she has... or better yet, forced porridge eating... mwa ha ha hahahahahahah
