haha, rule number one - dont run over the Greymouth club captain!!
Scary photos now that i see them, Im the first one to admit i was trying way too hard too early, was pretty irresponsible realy. Im not sure that i want to see the tv coverage looking at that??When i got back from hospital the chain was twisted sitting beside the bike, I was wondering if maybe the chain had popped and wraped around the back wheel? i was told that they "removed the chain to move it"? it wasnt seized? looking at the pic maybe the chain did come off? im sure i just f***ed up.
im more concerned about the young kid swinging on the pole?![]()

[QUOTE=steve74;1129449851]mate im way off, will be my 13th - unlucky for some
Mate........that's freaky!!!!!!!!
Had a fantastic day, the initial first timers session was pretty scary on the bucket with the big guns blowing past, but the bucket practice was good and felt more comfortable with each race.
I bumped into the CEO from work putting up the fences at 6AM, he had been out since 4:30! A big thanks to all the set up crewsand the organisers.
Cheers
Muzza
I had an awesome day, just outside the top 10, which made starts hard but good close racing every race.
anyway to find out overall results?
im pretty happy with my result since it was my first time and all
very well organised and that dirt section was wicked!!!
found some cool vids on youtube already from this person

[QUOTE=Muzzab;1129480623]Its good to see people like the CEO of one of the coasts biggest companies making an effort and showing his support. He did the same last year, for a sport im guessing he has little interest in. There are many others like him too. I have to say nice things about him muzz, hes my boss too.... hmm, how long will i be off work?? - do you think chocolates will help me?![]()

That's F3 isnt it? Why is that #47 not in motards?
Agreed there is an argument there. its a ktm duke, not designed to do big jumps. to qualify for motard the manufacturer must make an off road version of that bike. Some would also argue that they do. Scottie on 47 is an experienced veteran of the grey street race (11yrs) and was happy to have a play from the rear of the grid. its a big single so the motor is ok for f3. He runs it in f3 at club level and bears meets, for us at greymouth we cant run motards in formula classes. Its the handlebar height that is the iffy bit. We can argue that there shouldnt be 80s trail bikes in post classic too but you have to draw the line between formula bikes and motard somewhere i guess.

haha, very funny!!.
agreed mate, its hard to police the bikes, we rely on the competitor being honest on their entry with regards to the year of manufacture. Its hard for the scrutineers to pick up modifications or differences between say an 82/83 machine, its more a safety check at sign in rather than an eligibility check. Often its only the competitors that know and understand the actual year of the machine. We do try but a few obviously slip through the net. Its not a championship so we dont get too wound up about it but fair call.
I know Dan mckenzie snuck out in postie practice on his 89 nsr and got a slap on the hand for it.

That was all somthing, what a realy loved, was walking the km or so back to the motel, and inhaling the glorious coal burning smell, nothing like the Coast, the fresh air and all that comes with it.
I am all but screwed now. The wife now says we MUST be in Greymouth every year for this event. I am truely having trouble coming up with an arguement against her.
Buckets were great, nice to be in front of a few of the FXR's that at Ruapuna would be slipping away into the distance.
The RD in Pre 82, decided it did not want to race, dummy grid for practice and the clutch cable broke. Inbetween then and race two, the true spirit of racers came to the resucue, all sorted with spare parts to be road ready again.
Had a great tine on the RD, though did better than last year, I expected more from myself. The 3rd race at turn 3 a fella got a little outa shape, and I ended up nudging he's back wheel, gave me the shits a little that did.
All in all, Loved it.
Thanks to all, as all have said for makin' it happen.
had a blast too like everyone, thanks to the organisers and set up people who put in a long day to make it happen.
5 races on the motard with the off road section was a bloody hoot but back to back with 3 bucket races I found (due to my lack of fitness a bit of a struggle. With a quick dash to the bucket which was waiting on the dummy grid I had sweat steaming up my glasses and panting like a madman......Heres the Bucket Race one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kHqcrXwd20
I've only got a bit of footage of the motard pratice which I'll post tomorrow!
Its harder to lose weight than gain horsepower.
