    Calling all mods and rockers!

On the 22nd of August Street and Sport Motorcycles in Christchurch are hosting the first ever Mods and Rockers Winter Rumble. Open to all classic 60s and retro style bikes (Triumph Bonneville, Honda GB500 etc) and all classic scooters we'll ride from Christchurch to New Brighton. Once at Brighton we'll have a series of Mods vs Rockers contests and the winning group will be presented with a trophy and lead the vanquished back to Christchurch.

Once in town we'll gather at Poplar Lane where the Twisted Hop and Vespa Room bars will be hosting a party. There will be secure indoor bike storage, so if you want to celebrate (or drown your sorrows) you can do so without worrying about drinking and riding.

    We desperately need more bikes

The scooter clubs are getting right into it, and there is even going to be a contingent coming down from Wellington. It would be a disaster if they outnumber the rockers, so we need anyone with a cafe racer, classic Brit or Euro bike or a modern classic (Kawasaki WR650, GB Honda, Bonneville etc) to rally round the flag.

I need to work on the hair bit

wearing a black leather jacket, jeans and a pair of black leather boots isn't too hard though.

Oooh I wish I was down that way! It would be a hoot! The Volty could almost pass as a classic bike... near enough for those short-sighted geeky mods anyway.

And don't forget your white scarf around your neck. And your leather cap to wear once you take your helmet off. And remember to watch Quadrophenia in advance so you know exactly how to behave.

Hey, jump on a plane if you don't mind riding pillion or use the cheap ferry crossing the Wellington scooter crowd have organised. Plenty of accomodation and the beer is especially good.

Yeah we should get a bunch of Rockers together from Auckland and come down and invade the party!

Actually if I was a real Rocker I would steal a ferry ticket from one of those weedy mods and send him crying home to his mummy. Hmmm... there's a plan...

Sounds like a bloody awsome ride.

    Wish I could make it.

I asked the guy at united video "Hey mate you got a copy of Quadrophenia"?

He looked at me and said "I dont even know what that is"

Does it have Arn-old Swarts-a-nigger in it?

Bloody younger generation dont know nothing really!

Yeah, no problems, it would be awesome to see your AJ. I can guarantee you won't have the oldest bike there. I'm looking at charging $20.00 and sponsoring the volunteers at Burwood Spinal Unit as they have lost most of their funding and do a good job (and have helped more than a few bikers). For your $20.00 you'll get a patch and a good feeling, so well worth it.

I also need an idea of numbers as there is a big difference between catering for 20 people and 200 people. If anyone is thinking of going, can they please check out our website www.streetandsport.co.nz and email me from that.
