Any one know the reason as to why this circuit does not get used for nationals?
my guess is the cost?

I would say that could be the reason as it costs alot more to hire the whole of the Manfield circuit and if you dont get the entries in to cover at least the hireage fee then whats the point. No club wants to be out of pocket.
Also from a spectators point you cant see the bikes all that well once they are on the extended part. You also need alot more Marshalls as there are 4 more points to cover.
I would be very interested to find out from those riders who raced on the weekend what their thoughts were regarding racing on the extended part of the Manfeild circuit?.
Apart from a few bumps, it's mint.

It's not up to the standard (FIM) as the rest of the circuit. Manfeild itself can't use it (test days) unless it is. As they are upgrading the pits etc I don't see the money forthcoming to do it either. VMCC can use it as the permit comes from MNZ to do so. Nationals would need FIM standard I guess. Gravel traps, marshal points, curbing, track edge lines, removal of the buildings and posts etc...
my original post wasnt ment to sound like im complaining it was mor ejust a question in the air.
My opinions of it is like Deano said a few bumps to deal with other than that it is mint and it really makes the racing alot more fun with more corners to deal with.
I thought it might have something to with spectator friendlyness and cost
But World superbikes used to race there all them years ago

Ivan.
The long circuit was not in existence when WSBK raced here in the late 80's early 90's. They raced on the short circuit only.
allgood shows not to listen to everything you hear,
Its a shame its nto a National circuit it has some really awsome corners on it and changes it from a horsepower cicuit to a riders circuit

The long circuit was used for the Nationals back in the mid 90s when Jason Mc Ewen was riding the Britten.I think the biggest restrictions are cost of trck hire and finding enough experienced Marshals.Makes no difference anyway,As I understand it they are going to scrap soon as its not utilised enough. The reason for the different camber is because Toyota NZ specified a flat track for their testing. The World supers never ran on it,I did all three rounds at Manfeild and they were all on the club circuit,The only true superbike too run on it was Aaron Slights Factory RC45 at the 95 National round (demonstration laps only) clocked at 250Ks down the front straight
haha old Slighty another Wairarapa boy and 3rd cousin
Maybe thats what I heard as Aaron Slight was something to do with it and got mixed up when someone said Aaron Slights superbike ran round there and I being me assumed that they ran the long circuit.
