Ride-Sun March 27
Left Ak @ 7.30am in slight drizzle which got worse towards warkworth. Luckily it stopped before Welsford and the Brenderwyns were dry for a good run up. Clearing skies at whangarei and time for fuel. Quick stop & headed north. Light traffic & no hold ups. Arrived at Paihia looking for a coffee stop but the place was full of tour buses & kids playing on the beach. No coffee to be had , so pushed on to Keri Keri.At last Food2go had coffee & food & a chance to stretch the legs.The road from Keri keri to Awanui (SH10?) is a great road. Little traffic , sunshine , fast sweepers , no cops, what more do you want. Stopped at Taipa to watch the action on the beach & refuel.Continued north to Awanui and then headed towards Kaitaia. (Shut on easter Sunday) Then headed south towards Kaikohe thru the Mangamuka George (AWESOME RIDE) on back to Kawakawa , back to Whangarei for a refuel. Stretch the legs , eat and head back to Ak via SH 16. About 750km not too much traffic, plenty of dry road. Great Day out. make you appreciate the countryside.
