Yip,nissans are the most reliable Diesels...............
Harley Davidson: The most efficient way to convert gasoline into noise without the side effects of horsepower.

'Fast' Harleys are only fast compared to stock Harleys.

i hear the 3lt turbo diesels are complete shit, and they blow heads regularly.
    something to consider
3LT engine, is 2.8 liter. Reliable as all fuck, till you bolt a turbo on, (they never made them from the factory). the 5LT motor is 3litres capacity, and turbo or no, they are a great motor.

    I've got a Surf, not a hiace.

The reason I'm looking for a Hiace, is the 2.4/2.8, never came with a turbo, so they dont crack heads. It is easy to stop them from cracking heads, but ya have to start with a head, free of cracks.

Dad bought an original Toyota Surf (the boxy old shape) almost new out of Japan when I was in primary school. It was a turbo diesel something-or-other --- boy, it were fancy though. Sunroof, fancy electric boot-window, those gauges on top of the dashboard which showed you how far you were away from falling over... right neat it was.

He fit some flash gas shocks to it and we went everywhere, towing boats and racetrucks and going down forestry roads and 4WDing. When we went up Ruapehu I couldn't keep my eyes off the altitude gauge (what the point of it was I don't know, but it was cool nonetheless).

So yeah, if somebody's got an original Toyota Surf turbo diesel that's shit itself, that's probably our old family cage... it was raped pretty thoroughly.

Your local engine builder should be able to find you a good head Drew. I can probably get you one, but it'd be four figures.
