    Hi

I'm sorry if I'm misunderstanding you, but why do you need a 400cc (in your subject) if you're upgrading to a 600cc?

If it's a 600 you're looking for, then I've heard good things about the CBR600's. They aren't quite as common as some of the other 600's, and Honda's really are good bikes, nice to ride. There should be heaps more advice coming, so weigh it all up and then decide what YOU want, and go for it

    Ride safe.
    Dave.

If I read you correctly, you are after a 400 to use for a while, then step up to a 600 from there? I loved riding my 400 after stepping up from a CB125. Whether you go straight to the 600 all depends how comfortable you are riding the zxr250, as with anything it will take a little getting used to. With the weight of the new 600s/1000s, the main difference between them and the early 90s 400s is the power. I dont know about the 90s 600s but I imagine they would be ~175 dry?? compared to the ~160 for the 400s/modern 600s.
The ZXR400 is a great machine, a bit more top end than the others, that wonderful kwaka howl, but a slightly stiff rear end. The VFR is more torquey being a V4 instead of an inline 4. It has rather low bars and instruments which arent as plesant for long distance riding. One of those two would be my choice of the bunch though.

as milky says the main reason i wanna upgrade is cuz i just casually rode my 250 zxr for abt 3months so i do need to get my handling better with a 400cc before i move onto a newer 600 or higher bike....and again as he said the main difference is in the power so i might as well get used to all these things first and then go ahead....plus the winters setting in...id rather play it safe with an older bike with lesser aesthetic value if i do get into a fall or the like...which i hope wont happen.......

    Oh hell yes!

And a wicked step down from the likes of 750's or 600's.

From what little ive experienced i find on a 400 you can wring its neck thru many tight sections of roads and use all of its power -okay a little hard on it sometimes, but nothing they aint built for!, and keep up with an average rider on a 600, i found with what little riding on a 600 i have done i cant ride it properly on the street, there is too much power for me to keep control of.

So yeah, go buy an NC30!!! or 35 if you got extra pennys

Bollocks, you can ride anything fast on the road or track...

400's ROCK!! Simply awesome bike, plenty of power for the open road, and you can thrash the hell out of them... Even though i have a 600, i emmencely enjoyed riding my ZXR400 before making it into a race bike... With riding a 600, if you thrash it your generally on the high side of 200kmh, and having plenty of "oh shit" moments... Where a 400, you are generally only risking your licence...

Yep, go for the ZXR400, or VFR400...

    Hi there
I have a '91 GSXR400R for sale. It's done 27,000 ks. Has a few scratches, but it wouldn't take too much to get her looking pretty again. But I live in Palmy.

Just about to say that. He's asking $4k for it (assuming we're talkinga bou the same one). It's very pretty and it's got a blue screen. And the paint is blue and white.
PM VasalineWarrior about it - it's his bro's. But yeah - it is the other end of the island. That could just mean a potential road trip though!
