they are a Twin throat, dual carb setup. Have tuned 1 set on a friends bike, havnt heard bad stuff about them... but by the looks why cant you change the carbs to something else? As for sticking with street stock.. sheesh they would never notice hidden under the tank like that and i doubt its going to make a massive difference + there is much tolerence in the class for doing such mods to save money, as it doesnt warrent the value of the bike to have those carbs overhauled.... However.. if they are working fine at the moment, as it stands.. leave them alone... exactly what did the guys @ WMCC say needed doing? I cant see how you can tell if a diaphragm will need replacing "soon" etc... you can see slide wear etc yes... however meh! The old GS1000 (yeah okay not currently runnig, but thats electrics!) in the corner has worn right thru the chrome on the slides, meh! Run just like they were new once balanced/tuned.. only minor problem is sometimes the slides dont close fully but thats when it hasnt been run much and its getting a return cable one of these days to help fix that.

I say save yah money and keep riding the beast! and yeah possibly buy this other guys carbs as a backup but dont tamper untill it needs doing.

Yeah I'm just gonna wait until the carbs pack up again. I'll get these carbs for when I do need them. All WMCC told me is that the carbs are very worn and need all new internal parts :spudwhat:

Tell me more about this turbo, got a url?

It's tiny, from a Suzuki Cappucino I think. The engine designation was Suzuki F5A which is a 597cc three cylinder. It's actually an IHI RHB31. For a 600 you'd want something about twice the size, just guessing at air flow and horsepower etc etc. This one is watercooled and everything.

I got it from The Motor Shed, 7 Cain Road, Penrose. Cost in Nov 1999 was $155.55 + GST with no guarantees or warrenty. Ph 09-5269197 of Fax 09-5269198.

I reckon the trick would be to go fuel injected as well with full engine management. There are enough bikes around with fuel injection now that you should be able to get an injection manifold for a reasonable price(Yeah right!) and cut it to fit. Otherwise a blow-through setup but then we're back to the carb issue again. The problem with a draw-through system, like a Z1R-tc is fuel distribution. You always get one cylinder leaner than the others and that one always blows up first.
