Sliding the forks up through the yokes reduces the steering head angle and makes the steering faster at the cost of stability. Try it with them stock and if you find it's too slow experiment. I have mine set pretty much stock as I find the bike light enough that I have no problems tipping it into corners. Bear in mind that I'm not fast and seem to have issues keeping the thing on two wheels anyway.

ok. For what they are the fxr will turn sharp enough when the forks are set to the recommended position. If you raise them through the clamps even more then yes the bike will turn faster but you will most likely lose feeling in the front and stability. If you drop the legs down through the clamps it will turn slower and push you wider on corner exit.

Ok awesome, thank you for all the info, cheers to Henk too. I will leave them be and just get out and ride the damn thing. I have uploaded a couple more photos on FXR.co.nz, she has numbers now and put the motor back in it and had it running on the weekend. Getting there slowly.

I have another question. Whats a good pair of racing gloves to get without spending the bank balance on them? I was looking at either Prexport, Teknic or Quasimoto.

This probably isn't going to help that much but get the ones that fit the best. Havent had an issue with road gloves but have had a couple of pairs for the dirt bike over the years that would bunch up in the palm, you don't realise it's a problem until you go to drop the throttle and it doesn't.

PHEEEW! it runs!

It might have smoked on first startup but thats from all the oil i put in the cylinder, around the rings etc.

i'm about to buy some stuff off these guys, some good deals.

Yea I have 3 different pairs of road gloves, 1 pair winter kevlar and 2 pair summer with 1 being with kevlar. I rely on my hands for my job so thought would get something that would protect them a bit better if I did have that off.

It looks great. A mate got some gear off them not long ago, he's real fussy and he loves the stuff he got.

Yep looks good alright, and at half price might be well worth it. The protection looks good too. Quasimoto gloves are $169 I think. I was going to see the guys at Emoto as they have some teknic gloves for $100 that are on special too, they look good as well.

I always buy those cheap NEO gloves you can get at most bike shops for about $80. They are comfortable, good feel, and I have crashed heaps of times in them, and they have been safe as houses.

Ok thats interesting cause I've read some comments from other people and they have mentioned that the stitching comes apart after about 3 months so have been a little unsure about the NEO stuff.
I don't mind paying a bit more for stuff as long as it does a good job and lasts.

Hi ya Bren, I went to Emoto today and bought the Teknic Violator gloves for $99, they fitted really well and have some good protection. The 2010 model were $299.
Has Mike had a chance to look at the forks yet?
