    H1N1 Swine flu costs $75!

I wont/cant go into details about where I work or what I do for a job on this forum but what I will say is I'm responsible for looking after and treating some pretty unsavoury characters.
One of these characters has been symptomatic (since Tuesday) and proved positive for H1N1 Swine flu. He got immediate treatment with a course of Tamiflu and the best of care and attention, all at no cost to him.

My 4 year old son has been developing flu like symptoms over the last 24hrs and spiked a temp this evening. Off to white cross we go, give them the full story, contacts etc. They dont decide to swab for cultures but decide to treat as if he has the virus and prescribe Tamiflu. Sweet I thought, got to the pharmacy.......................$75 please!!
Paid it without a thought of course, I want the best you can get for my family.

Tamiflu is not subsidised, we the general public have to pay top whack for it but 'others' (those being looked after in secure enviroments) get it for free.

How the fuck does that work?

'Tis the way of the world.

Diabetics pay for their needles and syringes. Druggies get 'em for free...

Yep saw a couple of the salt of the universe types when I was in hospital, they were important as they had private guardians and must have had bad balance as they had to be fixed to the beds.

And my wife had a green jacket on,she was asked by a guardian who she was chaparoning, then they saw she had no company logo on her jacket.
Hello officer put it on my tab

slighty aside, but from what i deduce you are in the same position as a mate of mine a few years ago... whenever he was asked the obligatory 'what do you do for a living?' he used to tell people "I'm in pest control"

Im so proud to be a taxpayer!

But what will they do when all the taxpayers die of swine flu cause they couldn't afford to pay for there own tamiflu? I see a movie storyline coming on....

Unfortunately, it's just the way NZ is.... $600,000 shipping containers with underfloor heating and airconditioning, and free tamiflu ... if this recession gets worse, you might see more people punching cops in the face

No cover from the employer, I would get Tamiflu for free if symtomatic being the 'first contact' but not for family members
My little mate is it a tough sort, he'll be right, Thanks.
